He said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "I never thought the game was over. Why? Because it's Michigan State. When Notre Dame came back, I thought, 'That's why you're Michigan State.'"
Classic stuff.

Hell, that's not paraphrasing. That's almost exactly what he did say. Hilarious. And the best part is, I thought Fowler and Corso would kind of try and back away from that statement, but they ate it up and ran with it. Desmond says, "Coach, you coached in the Big Ten, and I played in the Big Ten, and we both played Michigan State, and we both know that they will find a way to lose!" And Corso ran with it. Best GameDay moment ever.

Well he followed that with the worst analysis ever at halftime tonight. As others were saying, it's hard to believe he's screwing up Texas versus Texas A&M...but hey, it's not like they played a month ago or anything...
WTF?

He did it twice no less... in the pregame talk, and then in a separate segment at halftime.

actually, kirk, who was calling the game, stated very early during msu's substantial lead that by no means was the game over. herbie repeatedly commented that dismantling was part of sparty's psychology. when msu was up by 17, kirk all but guaranteed that the game would be close by the end.
kirk herbstreit during msu game: "this is what michigan state does" and "that's why they are michigan state."
pucker, pucker, pucker.

Kirk played four games against the Spartans too, after all. No doubt at some point he probably rallied the Buckeyes from a two-touchdown deficit in East Lansing or something like that. It's like a Big Ten rite of passage.
As for Desmond mixing up Texas and Texas A&M, in his defense, they're practically the same school. Besides the different nicknames, different color jerseys and helmets, different logos, rabid fans who hate each other's schools, urban vs. rural campuses, the whole military thing they've got at A&M......mirror images really. They're both in Texas, and they both do the Hook 'em Horns sign, so there. (A&M tends to hold the sign upside down, that's how you tell a Horn from an Aggie....but Desmond is a Big Ten guy so he shouldn't be expected to know that )

I agree, Troy Smith is a BIG help to the Buckeyes, but he isn't the whole team. Without the line he wouldn't make plays. Without the defense we wouldn't be where we are right now. And without the rest of the team scout players, etc... they wouldn't be ready for upcoming games. So that is truely extreme of what he is saying.

Anyway, I read if you're related to somebody who has played at Ohio State, they will put you on their practice squad. But that doesn't mean you'll dress for the games though. When I go to Ohio State to major in Sports Journalism, this is what I am going to do. I won't stop there, because I will try to dress and make the team.
