Manningham is one-dimensional. He's great at running routes on the sidelines. He's absolutely terrible at routes over the middle. His hands are suspect. He cannot block. He gets lazy at times.

Let's just say I wouldn't be [censored]ed if the Browns took him in the 6th round.

Even then, you'd have to pray that Braylon Edwards could smack some sense into him.

I guess I'm in the minority on MM. I think he's going to be a great NFL receiver. He is quicker/faster than he's given credit for, and he makes big plays.

It was nice of him to suck against OSU, but his double move was still the best in the game the last 2 years.

I think you're getting a steal if he slips into round 2, but I think a GM jumps on him late first most likely.

No offense, but you shouldn't be knocking any player who had his way with Florida.

What exactly does their lousy, young D have to do with the strong, veteran unit from last year?

53 yards receiving & 53 yards rushing isn't exactly unstoppable, either. I'd say Arrington had their way with UF more than MM.

Whoa! Let us count our lucky stars that he did not play well against the Buckeyes, but the kid has moves to get open and he can flat out go up and catch the ball... unless maybe you think he didn't have SEC speed...

Not to pick on you, but when we knock other Big 10 players we imply that the teams and players in the league aren't very good. That in turn supports the notion that winning the conference doesn't mean much, or that the champion wouldn't be a contender in other conferences.

Manningham was good enough to have a sensational game against a top SEC team and against USC in two bowl games. His Big 10 records speak for themselves.

Not sure what you mean by this. He isn't really a jump ball WR.

This discussion is about his NFL stock. I think he's a great college WR, but cannot get away with a limited skillset at the next level. Troy was a superstar in college, but no one liked him on the next level in draft talks.

BTW, there are plenty of UM fans who find fault with similar weaknesses that we're listing.

FL - 53 yds rushing, 78 yds passing
SC - 2 yds rushing, 79 yds passing

No tds, and was at Warren Harding when Henne first faced USC and helped them to their split title.

Actually, Mario had 78 yards receiving on 5 catches. The thing is, when you have 3 DBs watching a WR who torched you on the first drive, it would open things up for other WRs, correct? Arrington had one-on-one opportunities the entire game, and he took advantage of it.

Besides, Manningham's performance against Florida isn't why he declared for the draft. Maybe it's the fact that he's...

-4th all time at UM in receiving TDs.
-5th all time at UM in receiving yards.
-has the longest offensive TD in UM history.
-is the only WR in UM history with 5 straight games of at least 100+ yards receiving.

Actually, not only is it a combination of those things, but others as well. Nothing major, but people do go through things when they aren't in front of thousands of screaming fans. Regardless of what people think, I'm so proud of Mario. You have no idea.

Note, I'm not saying Mario will do nothing at the next level. I just think he has a lot of work to do in many areas (see previous posts) to become an effective WR at the next level. You can snag speed guys later in the draft.

I think taking him before the 2nd is a reach.

My bad on the numbers. I agree that they took him away, I just was responding to your initial wording.

I don't blame you... even if he's just a 2nd/3rd rounder, that's a hell of an accomplishment.

I think he's a great college WR, but cannot get away with a limited skillset at the next level. Troy was a superstar in college, but no one liked him on the next level in draft talks.

BTW, there are plenty of UM fans who find fault with similar weaknesses that we're listing.FL - 53 yds rushing, 53 yds passing
SC - 2 yds rushing, 79 yds passing

No tds, and was at Warren Harding when Henne first faced USC and helped them to their split title.

Dude Not to be mean but your an idiot. This kid will be a mid to late first and thinking how the combine will only help him because he runs a 4.35-4.4 flat. He had a [censored]ty game against us but he isn't with michigan no more and ur putting down the big ten. He did have his way with florida even when they double and triple him and leave open arrington to one on one dude watch the game, learn football. In the nfl when he makes his two step move on one on one coverage instead of three on one he will get his way. He is a great receiver from Ohio that went to michigan. He did have a bad game against us but he is good dude, watch some film

He made a tremendous leap on that catch, but I'm not sure I'd use that to refute my claim. Perhaps I should be more clear.

When I think of jump balls, I think of 50-50 balls. When I think of jump ball WRs, I think of guys who can elevate, hang, and dominate the poor DB asked to defend him. Braylon Edwards was incredible at this... I don't see that ability in Mario. I don't think he is physical enough to impose his will on the dbs.
