The team left over the weekend for Boise.
Boston College representatives contacted Boston Municipal Court officials from Idaho and worked out the postponement after they found out about Burns' arrest, said David Procopio, spokesman for District Attorney Daniel Conley.
The court could have issued a warrant for Burns' arrest. Procopio said that since Burns' coaches took responsibility for him, prosecutors agreed to delay his arraignment.
"We did not object to the court not issuing a default warrant for him," Procopio told the Boston Herald.
Burns, 22, a junior from Basking Ridge, N.J., allegedly left a Brighton bar Saturday and crashed into a stone wall. He was stopped by police when he and a companion were walking away from his vehicle.
Burns refused a Breathalyzer test and failed a field sobriety test, according to court documents. He was released after agreeing to appear in court Tuesday morning.
Boston College head coach Tom O'Brien told The Boston Globe that Burns would be in uniform for the bowl game but not play in it.
Burns played sparingly this season as a backup, recording six tackles and one forced fumble. He has one year of eligibility left.

Good Lord! You like it? To each his own I guess, looks like a horrible abortion of a football field to me. Not to mention that it screams "gimmick" with a capital "G".
