Heres Their Article On Ohio State from Athlon.
National Forecast: 12
Big Ten Prediction: 3
Offense: Troy Smith performed wizardry virtually every week of the 2006 regular season for Ohio State, but the magic ran out in the BCS national title game against Florida, as his eligibility. With the hocus pocus clearly gone as wells as playmakers Ted Ginn Jr., Anthony Gonzalez and Antonio Pittman -- the Buckeyes are going to have to go back to out-executing and overpowering opponents in the trenches. They appear to have the offensive line to get things going with behemoths Alex Boone and Steve Rehring -- who are both 6'8" and over 320 pounds -- back to man the left side and another 300-pound-plus bruiser, Kirk Barton, still entrenched at right tackle. However, those three and tight end Rory Nicol represent the entirety of starters returning to the offense. Barton is the unit's only starting senior.
The new faces behind the blockers are fresh and exciting, especially at tailback -- where 6'1" 225-pound Chris "Beanie" Wells will move into a workhorse role. The powerful sophomore will be
OSU's primary weapon on offense this year. True freshman Brandon Saine offers a speedy change of pace.
At Receiver, the cupboard isn't as bare as one might expect. Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline are crafty, sure-handed performers, and the coaches think Ray Small, the team's most natural flanker, can keep defenses honest as a vertical threat.
Smith's successor, who appears to be junior Todd Boeckman, is tall and aggressive, but he could continue to get a push from Robbie Schoenhoft or even Antonio Henton, a Smith clone who is still raw.
