Beano Cook says that Schiano is waiting for the Penn State job, but thinks Bradley (who is he?) will be the next coach. I know noone is expecting Joe Pa to step down for a few years, but Schiano turning down the Miami job makes sense now.

Could be, but I always had a sense that if Joe was alive when his successor was named that you would have to be on his staff to be a candidate.

Bradley is PSU's DC, I've heard many times he's being groomed as JoePa's succesor.

Paterno says rehab ahead of schedule
Friday, December 08, 2006
ASSOCIATED PRESS
Looking grandfatherly in a dark plaid sweater, Joe Paterno arrived in Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa., in a wheelchair yesterday to talk about Penn State?s trip to the Outback Bowl to play Tennessee on Jan. 1. He was greeted by photographers snapping pictures.
It wasn?t the way the 79-yearold coach wanted to start his first news conference since two players ran into him on the sideline during the Lions? 13-3 loss to Wisconsin on Nov. 4. He had surgery the next day to repair a fractured shinbone and two torn knee ligaments.
"I want us to be talking about our football team, and where we?re going. The team we?re going to play," Paterno said. "I don?t think I should be in the spotlight."
Paterno said his recovery is ahead of schedule. He put weight on the left foot for the first time Wednesday, 10 days ahead of schedule. He is optimistic doctors will let him coach from his feet on the sideline in Tampa, Fla.

Paterno, 80, seems ageless

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. ? Shane Conlan remembers asking Joe Paterno nearly two decades ago the question that everyone still wants the answer to.
How much longer will you be coaching? "Oh, a few more years," Conlan, a Penn State linebacking great, said recently in recalling Paterno?s reply. "Then when I was in the NFL, I said, ?How long are you going to keep going?? He said, ?Ah, a few more years.? That was 10 years ago."
