Walk-on QB Nate Montana (another of Joe's sons) will be transferring to Pasadena City College this fall in order to get some playing time. He's expected to transfer back to Ntre Ame for the spring semester.

Nate Montana, son of Irish and NFL legend Joe, has elected to spend the fall semester at Pasadena City College in order to get playing experience at the quarterback position.

Team spokesman Brian Hardin said the departure has nothing to do with grades or discipline issues -- it is simply a matter of Montana, a walk-on, knowing he'd be buried on the depth chart and in practices this fall. Montana is expected to return to Notre Dame for the spring semester.

Tony Rice, the quarterback from Notre Dame’s 1988 undefeated national championship team, was expected to start the game—until his 41-year-old calves buckled under the weight of two-a-day practices. I remember years ago watching on ESPN or someother sports network some American D-III team absolutely demolishing a Japanese All-Star team in Tokyo...final score was like 70-something-to-7 (crowd went nuts when the Japanese finally scored real late in the game). The Japanese players were smaller than your average US high school player per position. Ohio State could field a team of walk-ons that would destroy the Japanese all-star team...

If folks think there is outrage and controversy with the BCS system here the past few years wait until the Domers start stealing one of the BCS slots with their 9 win season = BCS game guarantee bull[censored].

They have been irrelevant for so long I don't think a lot of people remember.

I dunno, it's hard to be [censored]ed when you get to see ND get beaten by 50 points when they have to play a team that actually earned a BCS birth (as opposed to back-door shenanigans). Besides, they only steal spots from WAC and MW teams, so I couldn't care less.

OSU has been a BCS at large now what 3 times under JT? We, or a big time program like OSU, could very well be the one left out. Not the WAC teams.

TCU's coach made exactly that observation recently, saying that it is easier for him to get into a BCS game at TCU than it would be coaching a team like Auburn (his example). And this observation was made after he'd been reminded that the Horned Frogs have not yet been to the BCS.
