You are correct. Regardless of where he goes (i. e. #1 or #10, etc.) in the draft he is in for a real nice "chunk of change".

Oakland seems too infatuated with Russell to take Quinn... if I were him, I'd be hoping I slip out of the top-5. On safety Zbikowski's return for a 5th year to ND.

A decision he had to make based on poor performance last year that hurt his draft status.

Zbikowski picked off five passes in 2005, but he didn't have any interceptions last season. He finished 40th in the nation in punt return average after ranking 13th in that category the previous year.
That might help explain why Zbikowski decided to return to Notre Dame for a fifth season.
"I just wasn't happy with the way I played at all, really," Zbikowski said. "I have too much pride to leave on that type of note."
Zbikowski made the best decision for himself.
Although he was considered a probable early draft pick before the season, Zbikowski's disappointing 2006 campaign hurt his stock considerably.
He was better off staying out of a draft class that already featured plenty of talented safeties. Florida's Reggie Nelson, Louisiana State's LaRon Landry, Miami's Brandon Meriweather and Texas' Michael Griffin all are potential first-round picks who probably would have gone ahead of Zbikowski.
"He would have fallen like a rock," said Frank Coyle, the head scout of draftinsiders.com. "He looked like a sure top-50 pick in August, but there's no way he'd be a top-50 pick now. He'd probably go somewhere in the third or maybe in the fourth round. He missed too many tackles."

Of course, there is much talk of how much this will bolster the Irish D - culminating in this ...

"He made a wise move returning," Coyle said. "You never know. There's nothing to say he can't be a first-round pick."
And if Zbikowski does recapture that 2005 form, there's nothing to say Notre Dame can't confound the skeptics and earn a third consecutive BCS bid.

Nothing except reality checks against Michigan, Penn State, Purdue and UCLA on the road in their first six games, and a murderer's row of starting games - ND's first nine opponents posted a combined record of 78-40 last year.

A: I know you asked about changing the game, but you hinted at changing up the BCS, so let’s just go back to the mid-1990s when the whole weird, wild system kicked in and there was a chance to set things right from the start. First, I would’ve made the BCS formula with three components using the human polls, the computers, and the strength of schedule all equally. Next, I’d take the top four conference winners according to the final BCS formula, and play them off No. 1 vs. No. 4 and No. 2 vs. No. 3 with everyone else going to the regular bowls. I wouldn’t have any distinction between BCS leagues and non-BCS leagues, if you’re in the top four among the conference winners, you’re in. Third, I’d make sure the playoff would be played on New Year’s Day, and the national title a week later so it wouldn't get too drawn out. Fourth, I’d make the voters accountable from vote one. All votes would be published, and each pollster would be given a weekly test to make sure they know what they’re talking about. Finally, I’d make Notre Dame join a conference if they wanted to be a part of the whole show and eliminate the special BCS treatment. You want in the big dance, earn it by winning a league.

Notre Dame Quarterback Arrested

Demetrius Jones was picked up in LaPorte County May 17th on a marijuana possession charge. He bonded out of jail that night. The LaPorte County prosecutor's office says he has been charged with a misdemeanor possession charge. A university spokesman says Jones remain enrolled, and to his knowledge, is currently in good standing.

Picked this up from the ND board irishenvy. Funny fact, there was a 5 page discussion about this, and all of a sudden, it's gone. Ridiculous how sensitive these ND fans are about all this. I understand locking the thread, but completely deleting it is just cowardly revisionism. Guess you can never change the mentality of a fan base.

The police blotter thread said that charges were dropped, since he borrowed the car and suppposedly didn't know about the weed in it.
