Colorado's Losing Ways Driving Fans to Drink
Kick when they're up, ridicule them when they are down:
If all else fails, get stinking drunk
Looks like the Buffs losing record under new HC Hawkins has some fans teeering way over the edge .. more ejections and public drunkeness in a couple of games than they would typically see in an entire season.
Ejections, alcohol treatment on rise at Colorado games
Associated Press
BOULDER, Colo. -- Campus police say they have seen more people in the alcohol treatment center at Folsom Field during Colorado's two home football games than they have during entire seasons.
There were 68 ejections during Saturday night's loss to Arizona State, police Lt. Tim McGraw said Monday. That's the highest number at a single game in the past two years; 60 were ejected during the season-opening loss to Montana State.
Student-government leaders and the team's football captains signed a letter last week that asked fans to be respectful during the Arizona State game. It was e-mailed to the student body.
The university is also expected to open a telephone line next month so fans can report rowdy behavior and there are good-behavior reminders aired on Folsom Field's BuffVision during games.
The school's initiatives are part of a Colorado sportsmanship program, "Compete With Class." The Big 12 initiated the program member schools as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship effort.
So far this season, 11 drunken people were taken to the Addiction Recovery Center, where they are held until they get sober. During the five home games in 2005, six people were taken to the center and eight people were taken there during six games in 2004.

Hawkins will turn that program around. He just doesn't have anything resembling a QB to work with at the moment and his OL is in transition a la OSU 2001. Some of the CU students are a joke, but that's what happens when you're a popular destination for rich California and Texas kids.
