Playoffs Needed, SEC strength comparison
Check out this whining:
"That's why we need a playoff," said Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville. "It's just so unfair to this conference. To go undefeated, it's got to be a miracle. You've got to be lucky, and then everyone's going to start politicking. "That's the way it is, and probably the way it's going to be every year. It's just so tough."
Yeah, yeah. The SEC is just so far above the other conferences it's just not fair. Wahhhh.
I want a playoff too, but this type of thing makes me sick. The SEC is a good conference but it's not any better than the Big 10 and sometimes the Big 12. Each conference has their "great" years where anyone can beat anyone but in my humble opinion NO conference is so tough on a consistent yearly basis that they have the right to cry about the current setup "not being fair" to them.

Very simple solution...Leave the SEC and join another conference...

Yeah, like the ACC. They're always looking for new dollars... I mean members. You'd get a schedule you could roll right through. You just have to make sure you don't get your face stomped in by a Virginia Tech QB or a Miami safety.
Seriously though, the SEC is not that tough. There are plenty of bottom-feeders in that league.

It trumps all things because it's the Ohio State-M*ch*g*n game. And I would like to think our guys understand that, but there's only one demonstration of understanding that and that's at 12:00 noon on Saturday.

SEC schools have won 2 of the 8 BCS national Championships and should have had at least 1/2 of one in 2004. Ultra tough conference? Yes. Unfair or impossible? Hardly.
Lets not forget a little fact in this storm of opinion regarding SEC dominance in 2006. The same Arkansas team that is in the drivers seat for the SEC West and just physically dominated Auburn was absolutely manhandled at home by the supposedly overrated USC Trojans.
I think its a conference full of top 10-15 teams this year but not multiple top 5 teams like the media and SEC fans would have you believe.
I understand Tubberville's frustration but he comes across a bit whiney.

Man, I'd love to play Auburn to shut up Tuberville. National Title games reward a perfect run through the regular season. Trust me, we've been burnt on that principle quite a few times over the years, so his whining won't carry much weight with OSU fans.

This year they are better than both.
Still not the incredibly tough conference that talking heads make them out to be, but definitely the toughest this year
If the Big 10 decides to stand up and win some bowl games this year (unlike last year), it would definitly help to make us look better...

Agreed strohs - in any year one Conference can field a better raft of teams, across the board, than any other. This year that Conference is the SEC. It should never though be used as a reason to promote a playoff. In truth if you look into Tuberville's argument the inconsistency is glaring. He wants a College Football playoff (which is in todays BCS dominated structure is like pleading for a do-over), yet he rails against the depth of the SEC - which SOS is is made more stringent by a single game playoff to determine the Conference Champion.
Tuberville needs to decide which sword he really wishes to fall down upon, or better yet simply shut the hell up, take care of business and take his team to a BCS berth.
