What a bunch of undisciplined, loud mouthed, showboating cheap shot artists. Taylor Mays should be forced to sit at least the next game and #93 as well. something like 5 personal fouls called several more that could have/should have been called and numerous counts of taunting only one of which was called and even then the ref tried to stop the clown before he was forced to throw the flag -- and did Pete say anything, pull a kid over and give him an ass chewing? No.

It's simply uncalled for and it's behavior that has for far too long been a trademark of Trojan football.

I guess the conference doesn't want to hear it as they've ruled that both penalties called against Mays were not actually penalties (no late hit out of bounds penalty when you hit the guy while he is completely inbounds)

Yes, especially when the pre-game, half time and in between time commentary/media productions come straight from the ND Public Relations office. "We've got kids beatin' the [censored] out of each other here to raise money for starving kids in Bengal," says Father O'Flanaghan. "It's a tradition that started with starvation and brutality and we keep it alive because it keeps the boys from getting to horny before the weekends."

I think that was the jist of this week's half time report.

I have a problem with the way Petey handles himself. Half the game he's not even on the sideline, he's on the field. He's in the ears of the refs pretty often too. While this isn't unusual, he was getting pretty livid yesterday despite the fact it was his own PAC-10 officiating crew. I didn't have too many problems with the PAC-10 refs yesterday, they've done worse jobs, and in the final minutes I certainly don't think they cost us the game in any way unlike 2005. One of the better officiating jobs I've seen out of them, but I was also in the stands so it's tougher to see some things.

No [censored] you don't have a problem with them. The conference ruled yesterday that the fake field goal was also illegal. Between that, the two BS calls on Mays, and the no-call on the mcknight tackle five steps after he went out of bounds, you're 7 points and 60 yards happywith the refs.

Not bitter as SC won and the calls setup the great ending, but ND had a decided schematic advantage

And which conference were those refs from? Thank God the Rose Bowl got rid of the Pac 8/10 refs, but in between there are a couple of lost national championships by Michigan and OSU courtesy of Pac 8/10 refs. Oh, and ask Oklahoma what they think of them.

But just for the record I thought the fake field goal was suspicious. You can't "hide" a potential receiver like that. He has to be in a huddle or out on the field, visible, not just barely on the field before the offense approaches the LOS. May end up in a rule change which forces teams to huddle, before field goal tries.

Sure, just make sure to tell your refs to get in line then, not our fault that they suck. There were plenty of taunting calls that weren't enforced against USC, they were pretty chippy all game.

That fake FG was pretty shady, but I don't see how they failed to notice he was just standing off to the side before the play. That looked like a Deion Sanders move, I heard he would sit and talk with the sideline before a play, like it wasn't coming his way, then take off and catch the corner off guard.

Pete nearly lost the game despite his offensive and defensive lines manhandling our guys. Our defense was completely horrible in the 1st and 3rd quarters. They someone turned things around, especially in the 4th, and made adjustments. I think a lot of it was the players enthusiasm and confidence though.

No rule change in necessary. Pac 10 officials now say that ND should have been penalized on the fake, since they used substitutions to deceive. I'm not sure how what ND did was different than what worked at the beginning of the season for GaTech against Clemson. That was on a fake punt, and Clemson complained that it also should have been a penalty. Sounds like something else they should allow replay to fix.

LAtimes

Quote:
After reviewing tape that featured shots from several angles, the Pac-10's coordinator of football officials said the Pac-10 crew that worked last week's game at Notre Dame erred by not calling a penalty against the Fighting Irish on a fake field-goal play.

Notre Dame set up its first touchdown with a 25-yard gain that was achieved when the holder took a snap and then passed to a receiver, who had remained in bounds near the Notre Dame sideline when the field-goal unit came onto the field.

"It appears a foul should have been called for using substitutions to deceive," Dave Cutaia said.

Cutaia said Notre Dame should have been assessed a 15-yard penalty from the previous spot and repeated the down.

Carroll declined to comment about Cutaia's finding.

I didn't say it was your fault, just responding to your "I didn't have too many problems with the refs Saturday" comment.

There are also claims of ND being chippy during the game:

Boy, that brings back some memories, although at Joe Skagg's place they had to be stacked neatly back in the old days. Add to that a good helping of hash browns and you are off to the cholestrol heart attack sweepstakes. I made it through my teenage years on these!

I think the receiver stood in Charlie's shadow while the FG team ran onto the field. No wonder the defense couldn't see him.

Yeah, who ever would have thought the arrogant little [censored] in this:

...would end up like that. I love it. Congrats Jimmah, all that pomp and bull[censored] coming in and you'll end up leaving absolutely irrelevant in the lore of CFB history...just like nd's last future three time Heisman winner (minus the ass beatings to tOSU unfortunately).

That crybaby pic should provide an endless bounty of farks too.
