The interesting thing will be the media's reaction if he is just solid but not spectacular well into the years when it's "his" program. Someone will ask why he gets such a long time to get things right and TW got 2 years. The difference in their skin colors will be part of that question, I guarantee you.
I'm not saying that line of thought is right, wrong or indifferent but the question should, and will, be asked if he doesn't bring home some hardware by '08 or '09 imo.

OK, what bugs me is that the media (and ND alums, fans, etc.) will even be thinking something's wrong if Weis is solid but not spectacular. Questions about skin color will probably be there, but if ND didn't consider themselves football royalty in the first place, they wouldn't be firing coaches over the results of one season and we wouldn't even get as far as skin color. Notre Dame could go 9-3 (hell, I'll even give 'em a bowl win in there) for two or three years and there would probably be rumblings that Weis isn't getting the job done. More so than any I-A school you care to name, ND fans seem to feel a sense of entitlement about the national spotlight and contending for a title. Even Alabama and Florida State aren't as bad as ND in this respect.

Can we have a bit of public disclosure here? Isn't it true that your pension fund has investments in fast-food chains doing business in South Bend, Indiana? A simple yes or no will suffice, please.

On a serious note, this year was the first time that I heard repeated challenges on air about Notre Dame's right to be in a BCS bowl. I think this is going to come to a head.

I don't need two more years to judge him as a fat, arrogant, jackass.
