Based on what, was Holloman a promising target? One unofficial visit and some generic nice talk about the place? The guy had offers from (deep breath): Clemson, NC State, Auburn, Florida, UNC, UGA, Tennessee, Notre Dame, LSU, Illinois, Texas A&M, FSU, Penn State, Maryland, Alabama, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, South Carolina, USC. Those are not good odds. I follow Michigan recruiting, not Holloman specifically....don't really get into the individual players until Michigan (or UVA) makes a narrow list. Holloman did not have a narrow list.

"I've been thinking about it, and asked my mom about it about a week ago. It was pretty much between Michigan and Clemson, and there were a couple differences like distance. Both coaching staffs coached together, so they learned "- Holloman

Sounds pretty narrow to me

No I didn't forget him and hes is rated as a top 100 Junior along with Gholston. Michigan is allowing MSU and OSU take their top flight talent. Michigan usually has 10 really good players and lately Michigan has been striking out (3-4 years). Look on their scout list of prospects and ask ourself how many of the remaining top flight players is Michigan really in on??? Not too many IMO.

Michigan and Clemson were his top two.
The recruiting board at VarsityBlue says it as well.

That's the thing...the prevailing opinion amongst the blue faithful was that recruits like him would be falling at DickRod's feet. I'm not saying you, but go read the archives on most um boards. So far, it's not happening and um does not seem to be the favorites for a whole lot of top-flight talent. At least not on the level many seemed to be hoping.
