I'm not sure Hart would be a high NFL draft pick. There's not much of a market in the NFL for running backs who are 5'9" and under 200 pounds.

I'm sure this was a rhetorical question, but answering gives me a chance to increase my post count.

I think that TSUN has a good chance of not only losing late due to looking ahead, I think there is a good chance that they will return to their previous slow-starting form and drop a game in September.

They lose a lot on defense.
They will be in some shoot outs early.

The Michigan defense would be different under Ron English.
I can't believe that he isn't on some college's (with a head coaching vacancy) "short list" of candidates. The guy is a great coach and great recruiter in addition to being an African-American.

Are you serious? Hart would be a first day pick for sure. NFL teams also look at production and tenacity, Hart has both of those going for him. I can say that he is a very good running back, that is coming from a Buckeye fan.

Emmitt Smith wasn't very tall, neither was Barry Sanders. Hart's short stature actually makes him harder to bring down.

If you look at my post, I said that he won't be a high draft pick. By this, I mean that I don't think he'll go in the first two rounds. Maybe he'll go in the third, but with his injury history and size, he won't go in the top two rounds.

I've heard reports that scUM has all but guaranteed him the head coaching job once Llllloyd leaves, so long as he remains on the staff until then.

I do agree that he has injury problems, but I just think that some team is going to take a chance on him. He's a workhorse, some team will take a shot on him in the first 2 rounds.

Well, I guess it's likely we won't find out until 2008, since he's said that he's 99% sure he's returning to scUM for his senior season. FWIW, I think returning is a very bad move in his case. This is the first season out of three that he's had that's been relatively injury-free. If he gets hurt and misses time again next fall, which is not unlikely, his draft stock plummets.

That statement we both can agree on, he'd be wise to leave now. Next years class will be deep with tailbacks.

Add Tiki Barber and WVU's Zeroway (sorry about the spelling) to the list of smaller backs who have made it in the NFL. Meanwhile bigger backs like Ki Jana Carter, Ron Dane, and Anthoney Thomas have not fared well. You don't get to pick the team you go to, so you can't scan the field and look for your best opportunity. You only have about five years max to make your money and you take a terriffic beating.

Hart has demonstrated his ability to take the punishment for a season. He's rushed for a K or more twice, he can catch and he doesn't miss blitzers when he's asked to block. He's fast enough to run outside, strong enough to run insdie. He can cut like hell won't have it. If he wore scarlet and gray we'd all be raving about him.

At least you're honest. But it wasn't necessarily rhetorical. I'd like to see what people think about whether Michigan really will look past some of their games, filled with rage for Ohio State, and get upset somewhere along the way.

I was thinking about that, too. I don't know that they'd fall into the trap of looking ahead late, if they lose early. I see them giving some easy teams a pounding early in the season. The media will quickly make them the #1 team in this century, and Michigan will barely beat a team that they should pound. Michigan State, maybe. Or Iowa or Minnesota. A couple more easy wins, and then they'll lose a game that should be easy. Purdue, maybe? (I have no idea what Michigan's schedule is.) Then they'll lose a tougher game. Back-to-back losses, and the players will begin to doubt that they can beat Ohio State, since Ohio State hasn't missed a beat on defense, and their offense has really taken off. But, of course, Michigan will be up for The Game, next year.

That's my guess.

Hart should leave.

#1. I don't want to have to face him again... he's capable of putting that team on his back and carrying them to a win if he has to.

#2. He'll likely not be able to improve his draft stock too much with one more year.

#3. He can still finish his degree (and I hope he does). We may not be fond of Stinkweasel U., but it is a great school, and that degree is something of which he can be proud long after he's out of the NFL.

Hart has very average speed. I would probably guess that he runs a 4.55 at best. Also, being injury-prone is not going to help his cause. I don't see anyone taking him in the first two rounds. And if he's lucky, he'll be a first day guy...

Hart is a Michigan RB, which means he will suck loads of ass in the pros. It's God's will.

That said, I think he should go, and I think he'd get taken 1st day. He has proven to be a workhorse and a very determined runner... he's rarely down on the 1st hit. And, as much as I hate the thought, Cinci is right, if he were a Buckeye, we'd all be arguing that he is being overlooked because of his size.
