I was under the impression that ND dodged UM after 2011, not vice versa.

Is Florida a willing candidate?

Glendale 07 was their first trek outside of the southeast in a decade.

A Florida Michigan series would generate alot of excitement around the country, but I think the favorite right now to replace ND would be Texas.

Texas/Michigan would be a great series.

From a fan's POV though, I think I'd rather see Michigan/Georgia, but Michigan/Texas would be second on my list.

Tex-ass makes more sense for Michigan. They recruit it better than they do Florida.

Based on fanbase wishes? Or rumblings from the schools? That's what I'm driving at.

It looks like Florida is finally willing to leave their region in upcoming seasons, to play Hawaii & Miami OH.

Having seen the upside (a win) and the downside (a loss) of playing a national power in a home and home.... Michigan, and any "power" they'd schedule can do nothing but "win" in the long run. It wasn't just in Ohio and Texas that people were talking about OSU v. UT and OSU v. UT II. Those were HUGE games with national implications. That is exposure. And that is good.

Mich ND was a good series, until ND went and became an awful team... and eve now on the heels of new found hype, as everyone on this board but NDC seems to realize, they're not competitive with the top of CFB. That being so, I think Mich would do well to schedule a series against a team likely to be top 5 or 10 when the time comes.

Personally I'd love to see any of the following teams to replace ND for those 2 years. Texas, Florida, Miami, Florida State, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn. I wouldn't mind SC but it seems like recently we end up playing them (and getting smacked) every couple of years. But I'd be cool with playing them too.

Heck, even Nebraska has come to realize that you have to schedule at least one tough ooc opponent to really get the notariety a self proclaimed football schools wants/needs.

Again, guess who paved the way outside of the Florida instate rivals...tOSU and if you look back, Colorado even though it obviously isn't as big as it once was.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- A former University of Michigan football player convicted of assaulting a fellow student was sentenced Monday to six months probation.

Christian Richards, a 19-year-old reserve defensive back from Pacoima, Calif., was also ordered to pay various fees and costs and perform community service. He was convicted of aggravated assault and assault and battery following a nonjury trial July 10.

Carson Butler, a 19-year-old tight end from Detroit, was cleared of the charges.

Both players were released from the team in March.

CHICAGO - College football will be a new experience for Donovan Warren, Michael Williams, Artis Chambers and others. But when the University of Michigan's freshman defensive backs begin their first training camp next week, they'll be looked at closely to see if they can fill roles usually reserved for veterans.
After being beaten up late in the season by the receiving corps of Ohio State and Southern California, the Wolverines are looking for a few good DBs, no matter how young.
"The freshman defensive backs are all really talented guys,'' Michigan coach Lloyd Carr said Tuesday at the Big Ten's media days. "They're all guys who can really run. We've got to find out how fast they progress in the secondary.''

Bad news for Michigan.
The Wolverines are this year?s potential victims of the historically inaccurate voting bloc known as the Big Ten media.
In seven of the last 11 years, the media whiffed on its prognostication of the conference champion.
Last year, in fact, was the only time since 1996 that the media correctly predicted the undisputed league victors. Michigan outdistanced Wisconsin and Ohio State to receive the nod as the preseason favorite. The Wolverines retain just 11 starters ? one behind Ohio State for fewest in the league ? but five legitimate All-America candidates.
