Yes, the basic principle behind recruiting hasn't changed....hence it still being called recruiting.
However, the process has changed dramatically over the last 30 years. It's not very hard to see.

why not? meyer didnt do anything last year and this year he was EXTREMELY lucky to be in the national championship game. they choked a game away from auburn and while they made the plays i still call 2 blocked FGs especially a game winning one pretty lucky against a decent south carolina team. zook didnt do much at florida but most of those recruits that won that national championship for florida were from zook and when zook was there they were all young so he never got much of a chance. zook is showing he can bring a program around looking at the recruiting being astronomically up and on the basis of where illinois was last year as opposed to the last couple years. they took us right to the wire and in the second half even outplayed us. anybody that can take a mediocre team and do that against a team in the national championship game is obviously pretty good at coaching. he seems to do a good job in bringing them around. case wasnt any different in 05 when we played them. they played pretty well against us as we went into halftime with a 13-0 lead against a "nobody" team.

That comment was meant towards the person who said "A 5th grader could recruit at Florida."
Just b/c you're in warm weather doesn't guarantee recruiting success.
