They do when they're meaningful - like USC's losses to UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon State the last 3 years.

Those upsets would mean a helluva lot less if USC ended up in a playoff at the end of the year. Especially to fans outside the Pac 10.

Would rather have a #3 or #4 team that was a few votes away from being a top 2 team get screwed or some #9-10 team that would be hard pressed to make a BCS bowl game get screwed? When it comes down to it someone will probably get screwed, I would just rather have it be a team barely scratching the top 10.


I have admitted NUMEROUS times that the playoff system isn't perfect, I just think it keeps some really really quality teams from getting boned.
I laugh at this...so the playoff system IS still a popularity contest. No thanks.

Are you serious? Georgetown beat Villanova two out of three times in 1984-85. Villanova was an 8 seed, Georgetown was a clear Number 1, not just seed.. but number 1 in the nation....

Then why even have a BCS title game if it is so obvious who the clear #1 team is every year in college football? Just crown a champion after the regular season is over.

A few days ago he guessed that the proponents had about a 5-1 majority. One of the TSUN fans chimed in that it was more like 25-1. He may be re-thinking that estimate.
