I would like to see a playoff because it would give us a truer champion than what we get now. We wouldn't be in the NC if the cards didnt fall exactly right and neither would LSU. At least with a playoff we get the competion to determine the final 2.
Too bad the people who run the programs now won't give up the power.

Personally, I do like the Play Off system better, don't get me wrong. I'm just suggesting that it doesn't really do anything to address the fan's insistance that the CFB champion be "the best"
To the extent that finding "the best" team is really at issue, the BCS works just fine. It considers several relevant factors. Maybe should consider more... maybe less.. I don't know.. that'd be a thing for someone like DBB to figure out (what factors are statistically relevant).

How so? Did Ohio State and or LSU Fail to win their Conferences? What's to say these two teams would not win their games leading up to a playoff styled championship game? I don't follow.

So long as no games went in to overtime LSU would likely have done just fine in a playoff, and we all know Tressel's prowess in playoffs as well.

I am trying to limit myself to one post in every 200 or so for this thread, so I guess I am about up again.
The sense that there is some sort of consensus on wanting a playoff is similar to the idea that the majority of American's share the Christian faith.
Truth is there are groups within the Lutheran Church who wont talk to one another because of differences in doctrine. And that is miles from the differences between Catholics and Protestants.
There are almost as many proposals for playoff systems as posters. They range from the ludicrous conference champions only to the more logical top 8 teams in the current BCS structure (if you don't agree with that it is because God did not grant you the same clarity of logic as he did I).
So on behalf of playoff opponents everywhere, let me submit a challenge. All you playoff proponents agree on a playoff format - then get back to us. (I will give you my grandson's email since I wont be around to argue by that time.)
Just keep one thing in mind. IF you do agree on a playoff format. And IF it is adopted by the NCAA. And IF CFB implements that format ......
..... You are all going to burn in hell.

True, but there are those who claim that we still "backed in" because of all those ahead of us losing, and those same yayhoos probably will still diss us if we "lucked out" and happened to beat SEC's finest on Jan 7th. On the other hand, their argument would be virtually void if we instead had to win four playoff games to win the national title.
