I think they should keep it the way it is, and add a fifth BCS bowl game. I don't care which one - Cotton Bowl, Capital One Bowl, Pickle Bowl, I don't care. Instead of alternating which is 1 vs. 2, they should alternate which are 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3. So maybe the Rose Bowl is 1 vs. 4 and the Sugar Bowl is 2 vs. 3. The next year the Fiesta Bowl is 1 vs. 4 and the Orange Bowl is 2 vs. 3. Then the next, the "Bowl-to-be-name-later" is 1 vs. 4, and the Rose is 2 vs. 3. And so on... The other three bowls, each year, go about their business the way they do now. Personally, I'd like to get rid of the automatic bids to the 6 conferences, but that's another argument.
The remaining 25 or so bowls are unaffected. A week later, the two teams who won those two games play in the college equivalent to a "Super Bowl," though it's obvious they can't call it that. A championship game that changes stadiums, the way the Super Bowl does. this year it's in Dallas. Next year it's in San Diego. Next year it's in Miami. I think the case can be said for a #3 or #4 team to deserve a shot at the national championship. But when you get to the #5 team, it's pretty rare for them to have a legitimate complaint about not getting their chance. They lost too many games. I don't want to see more than 4 teams make a playoff, because you'll inevitably get a team that many felt didn't deserve to make it to the playoffs (they lost 3+ games throughout the season) and they win the national championship. People will say it's because they got all their injuries back, while the opposition got all their injuries at bad times, or they finally started to click, or whatever. I also think that playoffs can diminish the regular season. Adding the possibility for only 2 more teams a shot at the NC will not diminish the regular season. For example, if Texas and USC win out, they will play for the national championship. Add two more teams to the mix, and Ohio State has a good chance to also play for the national championship. But they still have to win out.

What If (playoff scenario)
Ok so I have been studying for finals all night and while doing that I would let my ps2 play the games. I figured I would take the top 8 teams from the BCS poll and play them in a little playoff. I know this would belong in the Gaming forum, but I have some worthwhile discussion to go with it.
I wouldnt just put the conference winners in b/c they won their conference b/c there are obviously better teams out there. The only way to qualify is to make the top 8 in the BCS. Plain and simple, no specials for Notre Dame or any BS. Top 8 and that is final. I figured the first rounds would be played at the teams home stadium, with the better ranking. So here were the quaterfinals. 8. Miami @ 1. USC - Miami scored first on a 64 yd. td pass to Ryan Moore - 7-0 - Then Leinhart hit Jarret for a 25yd. td pass right b4 half - 7-7 - Leinhart would then hit Steve Smith for a 45 yd. td 55 sec. left - 14-7 USC wins 14-7 5. Oregon @ 4. tOSU - Oregon scored 3 fg's in the first half making the score 9-0 @ half. - They scored on the first play of the 2nd half on a 73 yd. pass - 15-0(CF) - Smith hit Holmes for a 42 yd. td pass - 15-7 - Ginn 17 yd. Td catch with 3 sec. left, and then Smith ran in the 2 pt. conversion - 15-15. - Oregon didnt score in OT, and Pitt had a 10yd. td run - 21-15 tOSU wins 21-15 6. Notre Dame @ 3. PSU - Samagin 25 yd. td catch in 2nd quarter - 7-0 - PSU put up a fg in the 3rd - 7-3 but would get no closer Notre Dame wins 7-3 7. UGA @ 2. Texas - Texas 5yd td run by Young - 7-0 - UGA fg - 7-3 - Texas 4 yd td run by Young 14-3 - UGA late Td pass by shockley 14-9(CF) Texas Wins 14-9 -This setting us up for the Semi's tOSU vs. USC - played at the Fiesta Bowl - Ted Ginn 14 yd td catch - 7-0 - Houston fg 10-0 with a sec. left in the half - Bush to the house on last play of 1st half 99 yds. - 10-7 - but no more scoring was done. tOSU wins 10-7 Notre Dame vs. Texas - played at the Orange Bowl - Sneed td catch puts Texas up - 7-0 - Quinn got hurt so #7 led them to the td - 7-7 - Two fgs in the second half by Notre Dame put them up 13-7 and that was the final. Notre Dame wins 13-7 National Championship tOSU vs. Notre Dame in Pasedena. - Notre Dame got 2 fgs in the first half - 6-0 That was all the scoring. Notre Dame wins the NC in a boring ass game 6-0. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I know right now all that above is just a huge dream I can have but, I think that it would help college football in so many ways. The first round of games couldve been played last weekend. Screw all the Championship games and screw bye weeks. You only play 11 games, get over it. Then the second round could be played on New Years Day, then the NC would be played a week from that day. There would be no conflictions with Finals and all that wish-wash as teams were still playing last week and teams have games all the way up till the 4th as it is now, so that would only be 3 more days and it would only be 2 teams as it would be the NC game. This would all be a great spectical to watch. To watch the best teams go toe to toe on a football field. How many years do we see games like last year when USC beat the [censored] out of OU. Was OU the second best team in the country we will never know b/c other teams didnt have a chance to show, b/c they were left out of that chance. I won't get into the many reasons why the BCS sucks, as it is made specifically for 2 teams and for some reason those teams come from [censored]ty conferences most of the times. Like the Pac-10, Big XII, and Big East when Miami was there, and will eventually happen as a team like WVU or Louisville will go undefeated and having played noone. If you want the two best teams to square off well then put them in a playoff so that will happen. There is no system, god, or anyone that can say whether the two teams playing in the BCS are the top two teams. Also I am sure everyone remembers the Texas game we will see more of those b/c teams will not think they lose one game and they are out of the NC game. We will also get to see more fabolous games like Us vs. Miami in 02' b/c when you are putting these top two teams on the field you are getting the best of the best. Why does USC blow out UCLA or Texas blow out Colorado, b/c the players they recruit are a notch or two above what those other programs recruit, but USC, Texas are on the levels of tOSU, Auburn, Miami, Florida. Those are the games I want to see, not these snoozefests 70-3 blowouts. This would be for the benefit of the sport and the fans. Well I am off my rant so shoot away with your opinions.
