It sounds like Fred can really work himself into the first day, possibly first round of the draft. That's excellent for him.
But I did resent the negative comments he made towards OSU during the recruiting process. I believe that's where the hard feelings come from - not necessarily that he didn't come here - but that he could have done it with more class. |

I read this thread from the beginning and I found mention of some untoward comments made by him about OSU. There is no reference to that though. Can someone please tell me what were the comments he made?

"I went to Ohio State games and I really thought they were boring," Davis said. "I kind of fell asleep. Their offense makes you fall asleep.
"They're near my hometown, so they'll probably take care of me if I went there, but what's the reason to play there? To block?"
EDIT: Just re-reading those comments is disconcerting. It was a very classless approach for him to take. But I do believe he's an excellent tight end that will find a spot on an NFL roster someday. And I think that's very good for him, and I congratulate him. |

Curious. Why is that classless? It was an honest assessment of how he felt. He felt the offense was boring. Frankly, at around the time he made those comments, I felt our offense was "offensive".
And his comments about tight end usage are...well pretty much on the money. We don't use the tight end to catch the ball much.

Qhy did he need to say it? He could have just have easily said, they just weren't the team for me, or talked up why he picked usc. Not saying he had to be nice but calling a team boring is going to get some backlash.
Besides that, name the last great tightend we had had. When ever we have a te that the team can depend on they tend to get the ball. |
