Dodd building the case for OSU being shut out of the NC game due to the last two losses. 1 out of 1 Birmingham journalists agree.

Dennis Dodd just asked the exact same question that a reporter asked Blake Griffin a few min ago. Sharp one, that one.

Once again Dodd proves to be an idiot who doesn't do research.
Titles, top talent, now own Network -- SEC rules on high - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com OK, the SEC is getting $3 billion over the next 15 years. Now lets look at the B10 numbers Big Ten could reap $2.8B from network deal The B10 gets $1.2 billion for 10 years from the national networks. The B10 can also make up to $2.8 billion for 25 years. I will do a couple scenarios. 1) Under assumption - Assume the same average for the national contracts over 15 years and the 2008 average per team in the B10 Network. That is $15.27 million per team per year vs. the SEC average of $16.67 million per team. 2) Average assumption - Average of the max B10 Network (over assumption) + current average of national deals (under assumption since a renegotiation will happen in those 15 years). That is $19.37 million per team per year vs. the SEC average of $16.67 million per team per year. So, at a minimum the B10 teams will make a little over a million less, and more than likely make more than SEC teams. Good job Dodd. Last edited by scott91575; 07-23-2009 at 04:31 AM. |

Good post Scott. I find it hilarious that Dodd said, "SEC football just became the world's most popular sport behind soccer and the NFL". What a douche. Does he even understand sports? Does he understand that a TV contract isn't a barometer of a sports International popularity? Can he even comprehend that there are great teams in other conferences that are just as successful as teams in the SEC? Honestly, I find SEC games to be boring. Of course I've grown up watching B10 football my whole life, so I guess I'm spoiled by hardnosed football. |

A TV contract is a measure of popularity, but average game attendance isn't. Otherwise, Big Ten football would be more popular than the NFL, but just behind soccer. Cherry picking your metric gives you whatever result you want.

CBS has the worst sports writers on the internet. I'm surprised this [censored]stick even has a thread here.
