If anyone should feel disrespected, its ME! I have gotten some crap on this board and not complained about it like a little baby. I make one valid point and all of the sudden I am disrespecting someone? Give me a break - you sound like an SEC fan.

My point is that your 9 win teams (Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.) weren't near as good as Oregon, USC or Texas. You didn't hear me bragging about beating Oregon State did you?

One minor point.

We BEAT Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin.

You LOST to Oregon, USC and Texas.

You guys lost 2 games last year, we lost 3. Not a huge difference. You played (IMO) 1 really good team in LSU and one pretty good team in Illinois. You lost both of them. Michigan got creamed by Oregon, Illinois got creamed by USC

We got creamed by USC, Oregon and Texas. IMO, Oregon and Texas are better than Illinois.

You certainly are, but when you visit an opposing team's board, you better expect others to give there opinions back.

Mine? USC was better than all of 'em. I think Wiscy, Illinois and PSU would all have given Texas a game...I think Illinois and Wiscy (in particular) would've beaten them. scUM was a mess early on, so using them as a measuring stick is borderline at best. I think Wiscy and possibly Illinois could've beaten Oregon. Off course this is all speculation, because we'll never know.

I like ASU, I like what Erickson is doing there (so long as he can keep his nose clean) and wish you all the best of luck.

Our QB wasn't running for his life during the wins, though. Sooner or later that was going to catch up with them. 55 sacks is an enormous number for one season. I think CFN summed it up well, including your potential if the protection improves:

Considering the unit yielded 55 sacks, it’s amazing the Sun Devils were able to win 10 games in a competitive conference, and it’s even more amazing that Carpenter can still walk. If the makeshift unit can somehow give Carpenter a little bit of time, it’ll allow a deep pool of skill position players to get more touches and make more plays in the open field. The offense will be more consistent, and Carpenter won’t be a human punching bag again.

Ahh, yes. Not a huge difference between the Holiday Bowl and the BCS National Championship Game either, right?

You guys were lucky to have a 10-win season and even BE in that Holiday Bowl, seeing as though 3 of your wins were by 4 or fewer points. And none of those 3 teams you beat played in a bowl, seeing as though the best record of any of them finished 6-6 (UCLA). Your only win over a team that made a bowl game was at home against #21 Cal, which was a great win by you guys. Still, your record against bowl participants was 1-3.

On the other hand, we got beat handily by LSU, but played Illinois to the final minute of that ball game and we could have won that game if not for a few tough calls (like Defrene's fumble that was not reviewed). The only "squeeker" we had was in a 7-point win over a bowl-worthy Michigan State team that we dominated (except for two freak Todd Boeckman turnovers that were returned for TDs in a 2-minute span for both of MSU's touchdowns that day). We lost to 2 team BCS bowl teams, but we beat 5 teams that made it to bowls (at #23 Purdue, Mich St, at #25 Penn St, #21 Wisconsin, at #21 Michigan). If you want to talk strength of schedules and weak conferences, the Pac 10 doesn't have much room to talk. Thanks to the Pac 10 only having 4 teams qualify for bowls, the Big Ten received an extra bowl slot and had 8 teams go to bowls last year.

There's a huge difference. Then again, we can agree to disagree.

How many times am I going to have to say that I KNOW tOSU has a better football program than ASU? How many times do I need to say it before you get it through your heads that I realize this?

I made the point that in my OPINION, ASU played 3 really good teams and tOSU played 1 really good team. Like I said, USC stomped Illinois and I don't care when the game was - Oregon stomped Michigan. I don't think Wisconsin or Illinois would have beat Oregon or Texas. Oregon would have probably went to the national championship game if DD didn't tear his ACL.

If you guys are going to start making excuses why you lost games and why games were close, then I will say that ASU lost our #1 running back in the middle of the year (Ryan Torrain). We didn't have him for the 3 losses at the end of the season. I'm not saying we would have won those games, but it couldn't have hurt to have him available.

Last year was Erickson's first year and we went 10-3. I'm happy about that. Maybe that isn't tOSU standards, but it is a step in the right direction for ASU.

Statements like this are implying quite strongly that you are attempting to use the transitive property of mathematics in a sports setting, which cannot be done. Actually it shouldn't be done if one wants to be taken seriously, which I assume you do.

As an ASU fan, you should be pumped by last year and what the future may hold for that program.

I'd say Readog has been pretty tame compared to some of the recent visitors we've had come through here.

Cut the guy some slack and allow him to enjoy his so far bridled pride.

He hasn't made any outlandish statements of glory like some of the now departed visitors.
