I'm sorry, but what he pulled on his players was unacceptable. Come to think about it, hell, I wouldn't expect anything less from a guy trying to fit in at scUM.

I'm curious about that too, but I'm guessing he keeps his mouth shut about the rivalry. It really was pretty ballsy for Tressel to say what he said considering OSU was probably going to have the weaker team the coming year and the game was in Ann Arbor. It was huge for JT to win that game in 2001 and give himself a little breathing room in the rivalry. RichRod is going to be against it next year coming into Columbus with a team that should be much weaker than OSU unless some strange things happen between now and then.

In my opinion, saying "You'll be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field" is no win guarantee. 310 marks the end of the season, and he's saying tOSU community will be proud- not victorious.

It was a guarantee without actually saying "guarantee." The people in that arena didn't cheer for that remark because they were looking forward to a jolly good show where each man truly gave his all.

Honestly with Pryor wanting to probably be on the scene in football and basketball how could scUM be above tOSU.
But... the Brew Crew missed his game on sat so I don't know if that will weigh on his decision at all.
Tricky Dicky was slimy not by leaving before a big bowl game but by telling a recruit before he told his team, AD or President. Personally that's kinda like getting married to a person you cheated with, you always have that feeling they will cheat on you because they probably will. And if the situation goes as bad as I hope it does he'll jump ship up there too. Plus what is going on with scUM's facility debacles?

Yea, you're right. He won't have to. Sure the standards are higher but he is drawing from a much larger "pool" so to speak.
I am an LSU fan and don't have an interest in your whole rivalry with UM.
However, I have enough sense to know that you as Ohio St. fans should be fairly worried about that game from now on. However you want to downplay this hiring, poke fun for them taking too long, laugh at his offense. I think the offense that he is going to run will give many teams in your division trouble. Think about his offense at WVU, it was a very good one. Just imagine him having better players to run it. WVU isn't exactly a top tier university, but Michigan is. It may take a while to get everything going, and you will probably beat them in the immediate future. But speaking for a few years later I think you are going to have a hell of a game on your hands. He is going to pull in some big name recruits and bring a whole new level of offense to your division. Imagine Illinois' offense x 10.

The reason that the spread-option offense is so difficult to defend is because you see it once every two years. When you have a week to teach your defensive linemen completely new assignments and train your defensive backs to play a style that is different from anything you have run all season, then you are often times in for some trouble. But the more you see the offense, the more familiar you become with it, the easier it becomes to stop because the assignments aren't all brand new. There is a thread on defending the spread option around here somewhere that touches very heavily on this point.
The other thing you are forgetting is that he had the best players in the Big East and still lost to other Big East teams. So he will go to the Big Ten, where he has the second best group of players, and improve his record against other Big Ten teams? It's not like RR suddenly gets better players but we are stuck with UC's roster. He get's better players, but so do his competition.
Besides his quarterback can't play like Juice or Leak every year against us. Statistically its impossible.
