With a lot of free time on my hands here tonight, I went back and read through the WVU/USF and WVU/Pitt game threads from last season. The primary reason I just do not see old DickRod achieving the level of success scUM fans are expecting/hoping for is that against solid defensive teams, he has been exposed as an average coach at best. When a good, fast defense can contain the running game, he falls apart and refuses or is incapable of making adjustments to neutralize that. I'm not just gathering that from reading the threads either, I watched both those games and their loss to USF in '06 as well. He is a man that is quite easy to outcoach if you have the resources, which most teams in the Big-10 do defensively. Hell, the referess blatantly tried to giftwrap that Pitt game for them and they still came up painfully short. Bring him on...

Ron Zook has a special ability to treat people from all walks of life equally and with respect. He is especially beloved by minorities who can recognize disingenuous phoneys a mile away. Since a large number of the best football players are minorities, Coach Zook has an advantage in recruiting.

There's no undoing the RichRod mess
From the heights to the depths, nothing special

RICH Rodriguez arguably presided over the biggest choke job in college football history.
On Dec. 1, the Mountaineers faced hated Pitt in the regular season finale.
The bookies believed West Virginia was 28 points better than the 4-7 Panthers, who decided to bus down I-79 and show up for the game anyway.
All that No. 2-ranked West Virginia needed was to beat Pitt to go on and play Ohio State for the national title, a game that not only Mountaineer diehards but also objective observers believe WVU could have won.
Imagine that. Let's bring on your national champion West Virginia Mountaineers.
On that chilly Saturday night that will live in infamy, the team stormed through Rich Rod's stupid-looking gigantic inflatable smoking helmet and onto the field as a crowd of 60,000 whooped and hollered.
At the coach's request, fans wore gold, which made a pretty sight for the ESPN audience.

This is the part that has me - as a human being - fuming.

What we do know is that Rodriguez has never bothered to pick up the phone and congratulate his successor - a man with whom he worked closely for six years - on the team's huge win over Oklahoma.
Some time before the bowl game, however, Rodriguez did manage to find time to call and share his thoughts with the Oklahoma coach.

God knows how that goes over in West Virginia.
Snake - and slime - pure and simple.
