As for Rice, WVU beat Rutgers 31-3 this year, so the defense must have been doing something right, whether or not Rice got his yardage. And, as has been mentioned, 3-3-5 doesn't mean 3-3-5 all the time. I see that as something RR is willing to bring to the table, not a square peg waiting to be put into a round hole. He didn't win 60 games at WVU by being a stubborn ass about his defense.
I agree. Everyone was saying Urban Meyer's offense wouldn't work in the SEC. We proved em, didn't we... The important part of RR's statement is that he is 'likely' to bring a 3-3-5 with him. Doesn't mean it will be. This gives me the impression that he will do whatever it takes to succeed. He is adaptable. Give this man a chance before you dismiss his defense.

No idea. I never noticed anything awkward about Mallett's drops other than the fact that he's generally kind of awkward whenever he moves anywhere. Best guess: Many, many high school offenses are in some way gimmicky - some never punt ever, for example - and his just happens to be one of them.

Dang Grad, that is why I was going to say. RR has started non-running QBs before in his offense. It is like Tressel in that sense, you have a basic system and tweak the play calling to match your personel. I can't remember the guy at QB at WV when RR got there but he was not a running QB, so it was a much more passing oriented attack.

Back to the recruiting part a little bit. Now with a higher profile type job RR should be able to get his pick of dual threat QBs. While Pryor going to West Virginia was an option no one really thought he would do it. But adding the tradition of Michigan along with it will open alot more door for RR to get his type of QB in much faster. Hopefully it is too late in the game for Pryor to go to Michigan, but imagine next year's Pryor (whoever that player is) being top priority for RR and now he has a much better chance to land him.
