Glad to see those rivalry games are something Charlie knows how to get his team ready for, with a 4-3 Navy team looking forwards to the chance to beat them for the first time in my lifetime. Awesome.
Oh, and I gotta love how they try to sell us on NoD's defense, allowing 29.6 points a game, yeah, great defense there.

The defense tends to look decent in the beginning of the game, but they get sluggish come the 2nd half after numerous 3 and outs by the offense. I imagine you emotionally are dead after shutting down the opponent's offense a few times and your own offense shuts themselves down. This hasn't been the case in all the games, but they didn't look too shabby the first half yesterday. The time of possession was lopsided until the 4th quarter when the offense basically just ate up the clock on a futile drive or two.
Looking at the box score I can see they did better defensively in the first half than they did against scUM, I sure as hell hope they have a great class coming in next year. I don't know, as a fan I might spend my Saturdays knitting instead of watching the collective efforts on the field for Notre Dame. I don't see what Charlie is trying to accomplish by pulling the pickle either, that can't be good for the kids confidence, I think you have to accept this team is a waste, get the experience you can and hope it pays off next year.

The reason for pulling Clausen was two-fold I think. Supposidly Clausen was "banged up" after a few games and Sharpley was a lot fresher and making plays late in games. I don't know about the part where hes banged up, more of an excuse than anything I'm sure.
The 2nd part is Weis said he wanted Clausen to sit on the sidelines and just watch the game slowdown. When you're in the huddle, things move real fast, and it shouldn't. On the sidelines you can watch things slow down and recognize a lot more, and it should then translate into the game. You should see it at the same speed when you take snaps, thats the way the great ones perceive the game. Clausen hasn't spent much time on the sideline, hes pretty much taken every snap since high school, with the exception of a few quarters this year.
I think its good hes gotten his feet wet, but a little time on the sidelines may do him some good. The quarterback isn't the biggest problem the offense has right now, I think they could be successful with Clausen or Sharpley. They really need to get the offensive line to gel, get the running game off the ground and make the offense less predicatable. I'm hoping by next year they figure out the problem and get it corrected, otherwise I imagine next season won't be much better.
