Could hurt them with Elliot Mealer.

I'm not sure how accurate it is, but the Rivals thing that hooks up recruits to coaches lists Mealer under DeBord, rather than under Moeller.

I wouldn't read anything into the time if I were you......if one recalls, they said the same thing about OSU 'taking too long' or 'losing out of people' (I seem to remember Stoops, Belotti, ? turning OSU down). And when the dust settled, we got Jim Tressel. A IAA coach for sixteen years....and Geiger took the heat for it (bless his pea-picking heart!).
Michigan is a top tier job, with expectations just a tad south of OSU fan(atics) expectations, so it stands to reason. Why would a well established coach leave their cozy nest to take over a program that appears to be on the decline (after this crop of seniors graduates). Also, Michigan tends to promote from within, and is now looking for fresh blood (albeit with Michigan experiences). That is truly a switch in their mindset, so undoubtedly they go about it in a half-assed way........Put Miles up there (if they do, he (AND Michigan) will have less than zero creditability for a looooong time. How would a recruit believe Miles telling him how wonderful things are there, when he swore up and down he was staying at LSU, and then bolted?
Never fear, they'll find a decent replacement (never thought Moeller OR Carr were inspired choices), but probably won't take a flier on a non-Meatchicken man (like our experiment with Coop). Bring 'em on, we'll continue to beat 'em-at the 'Shoe or the Big House - don't matter!

How about this theory. UM names English interim coach for the bowl game and next season. After which they go after Miles again.

I'd cherish every minute of the English regime however short it may be.
English or DeBord would be like the jam of the month club...the gift that keeps on giving the whole year.

Well, doesn't look like he's driving anywhere now. They impounded his car.
U-M assistant Andy Moeller arrested following car collision last Saturday

Seems he's the only one on the staff with that problem.
