If Tebow is just a "system" QB then I am scared [censored]less for the next 20+ years when UM team's have a defense, because there is no one in the world who can beat that system on offense.
Rather, I would argue that Tebow is a talent the likes of which college football has never seen. With the explosion of players of his talents (Perrileaux, Pryor), he may not be the last or even, in retrospect in 20 years, the best, but he is certainly the first. Considering he has more rushing touchdowns than anyone in SEC history, including 2 of the top 5 or 6 running backs to ever play the game, I am going to say that alone qualifies him as the best candidate for the Heisman. To add 29 more passing TDs onto that is just unreal.
And who cares what position or yardline he scores it from? If Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson could have scored that many times, from whatever position or yardline, they damned well would have. The fact that Tebow can do it when despite the utter lack of anything remotely resembling a "running back" (do Florida coaches even know what those words mean) just makes it that much more impressive. Tebow not getting the Heisman would be armed robbery. And that is not an insult to RunDMC, Daniel, or anyone else. He is just that good.
I would love to see Archie remain the only 2 time Heisman winner ever, but who says he wont? Who says Beanie wont run for 2500 yards next year and win the Heisman unanimously. Remember, McFadden already had his name engraved before the season started, and then a really weird thing happened. They played all the games.
One last thing: he shouldn't win because he has so much talent around him. One, I dont really think this statement is as true as you want to believe- besides Harvin and of course Tebow, no one on that offense really scares me. Even if you put in one of Florida's other 2 5* QB recruits, I think they are 7-5 at best, 5-7 is a real possibility. Tebow is that team, and he is [censored]ing amazing. Second, even if it is true, there is precedent here. See Leinart, Matt; Bush, Reggie; Smith, Troy.
Side question for Gatorubet and other knowledgable individuals: how does Tebow project in the NFL? I haven't heard anything in this regard, and I was wondering what your opinions are. What I have seen of him this year show me that he could be a decent pocket passer, with that added dimension, but I wanted to hear your thoughts as to position and draft position.
