I think that would be the best gameplan, Zem.
-Let the play clock go all the way down to 1 sec on 1st down and run the ball / high percentage short yardage throw.
-Let the play clock go all the way down to 1 sec on 2nd down and run the ball / high percentage short yardage throw.
-Let the play clock go all the way down to 1 sec on 3rd down and throw the ball just in the area for a 1st down. If in short yardage, pound the ball up down.
-Let the play clock go all the way down to 1 sec on 4th down and the punt or kick the field goal.
Short yardage throws will be a huge advantage to Michigan. Short to Arrington, short to tight end, short to a RB, short to Mannigham. Don't ever go out of bounds.
Score on your 1st drive in the 1st half, and then get the ball at the end of each half. 7 minute drives.
Maybe even consider an onside kick attempt to start the game or the 2nd half.
Just keep it out of Tebow's hands.

Personally, despite the loss of cash from it, id prefer illinois didnt make a bcs bowl... i really want a winning bowl record and i believe this is the best way to do it.. in the long run winning the citrus bowl would be better for illinois than getting throttled by usc anyway...

I know what you're saying, but as of TODAY, I'll definitely be happy with the Illini in the Rose Bowl, because that means the Sooners will have come through in the Big 12 CCG.

I think the Illini could hang with any BCS team except USC, and could certainly beat the ACC champ in the Orange. I still think Georgia will get the at-large RB invitation. So let USC spank them up and down the Rose Bowl field.

When Missouri loses to Oklahoma, the Rose Bowl will pick Georgia. The Big East has no automatic births, so Rose Bowl would gets the first selection (With Ohio State being in the Championship Game). Rose Bowl picks Georgia, the best team available.
Or, of course, they could take Illinois.

If they're eligible, I think the Rose Bowl takes Illinois. The Rose Bowl is all about tradition and if possible, they'll go with the Big Ten - Pac 10 match-up.

Am I the only one who remembers that USC lost to Stanford...at home? USC won't spank anyone up and down the field. If they win their bowl game by more than 9 points I'll be surprised.

Injuries are part of the game, but 13 of them is a quite debilitating don'tchya think? The only injured player's name I can think of is Clay Matthews, so I don't know how many of those 13 were key players. And they did contain UofO's offense pretty well.
