The bizarre story of Kevin Hart (official fraud)
This one is still developing, so no idea what is going on. A hoax by the kid? By someone else? Whatever happened, law enforcement has stepped in.

This quote certainly seems to suggest that someone had been posing as Tedford and calling the young man frequently enough to develop a rapport and relationship. Such a good faux relationship to cause the Mr. Hart to truly believe he was talking to Tedford and was offered a scholarship. Amazing.

If the kid pulled a hoax, I hope his ass is in a world of [censored]. Conversely, I can't see how he truly could've committed to Cal if he had never taken an official visit there...

if the kid pulled the hoax, good for him. Nobody asked about the official visit there? (parents, coaches, friends)
Conversely, if the kid actually thought he had an offer without ever visiting the campus or meeting the coach face-to-face...great job of selling it by the prankster.
Either way, whoever pulled this off is completely awesome. |

And a complete jack-ass...That would really suck to commit to a school that you want to go toand then find out there wasn't actually an offer. I think thats taking a prank a little too far...though he must be very persuasive. VOTE THIS KID FOR PRESIDENT '12  |

seriously, for this kid to think he had a legit offer, think about how many people would have to be idiots???
The parents didn't ask to speak to the coach, or request to meet face-to-face?? They didn't request an official visit??
The high school coaching staff didn't get suspicious that the coaches never talked to them??
There weren't any local high school recruitniks to check Cal's website and see if he had been offered????
If someone was capable of convincing an entire school and local sports reporters that this kid had an offer, props to them. That's like a scene out of a movie.
And if the kid pulled it off, even better. I hope he gets a scholarship to Cal based on his ability to sell.
Great prank one way or the other.
