'08 Rule Changes

I agree with BB73. I like the 40 second play clock that starts right after the last play ends. I think it keeps consistency. The out-of-bounds rule, though, is terrible.

If they just switch that for next season, I think they'll be close to having the clock rules part of the game perfected.

But I'm not asking for a 2-minute warning. If they always stop the clock on out-of-bounds plays (except when pushed backward, so the forward progress was in-bounds), there's no problem. And more football plays.

I think probably if they would eliminate the 2 minute stop been almost would balance out if they would eliminate the out of bounds stopage.

The one thing I will always remember about an Ohio State football game was when they played Illinois and David Wilson was the QB. I swear that game must have lasted over 4 hours and I don't ever want to see that again

I was at that game in 1980. tOSU had a 35-7 lead early in the third quarter, and the rest of the second half was a nightmare in the 'Shoe. They couldn't stop the short passing game - it was an early version of the West Coast offense under Mike White. The Buckeyes held on to win 49-42, and Wilson ended up with 621 yards passing, which was an NCAA record at the time.

Nick Saban was on the tOSU defensive staff that year.
