NCAA accuses Alabama State of 668 rules violations
668?!?!
NCAA accuses Alabama State of 668 rules violations - USATODAY.com
Quote:
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) ? The NCAA has accused Alabama State University of 24 rules violations in four sports and charged the school with lack of institutional control.
The university received a notice of allegations last week after an NCAA investigation of nearly five years. The allegations were reported in Wednesday's Montgomery Advertiser.
Nearly 500 of the 668 alleged instances of rules violations involved ineligible football players being allowed to work out in the offseason. Forty of them stemmed from football players whose grades were changed without the knowledge of the instructors.

So let me get this straight... 668 violations of 24 different rules? Sounds to me like they're slipping. Back in the day Alabama would have violated at least 500 different rules given 668 tries to do it.

Death penalty. Changing grades without instructor notice to keep them eligible??? Buh-bye.

I'd think the NCAA might be eager to drop the death penalty on another institution anyhow, just as a display of power and proof post-SMU that they'll still do it.
I mean, as a primer for when they get to use it on a real university in five years, like USC.
