I was listening to ESPN radio earlier today, and Mel Kiper appears to have a man-crush on Matt Stafford. He was talking up all the dawgs pretty good, referring to Moreno as "Heisman winner", before correcting himself. He then referred to Stafford as the "top gun" in college football and a potential Heisman candidate. Huh? The guy who was fifth in the SEC last year between Wilson and Flynn? The guy who completed just over %55 and averaged less than 200 yds/gm? That Matt Stafford is now better than Harrell, Daniels, Bradford, Painter, and Tebow? Kiper kept talking about how much zip his throws had in HS, and how he could be a #1 draft pick. Is this why GA is getting so much love in the press? Because Stafford is going to be the best QB in the country, despite being mediocre the rest of his career? Some analysts have said that if GA doesn't make it to the NC, it will be because of the tough schedule. I would be willing to bet that the dawgs drop one to a 6-8 win team. GA will be a good team, but if Stafford playing like Peyton Manning is the key to their NC run, they're in big trouble.

I agree re: Stafford. I can't think of one moment where he just made me say "wow." This year could be the one where he makes a big leap forward, but until I see it against someone not named Georgia Southern I'll withhold judgment.

Stafford is more Eli Manning than Peyton Manning. However, that's probably kind of an insult to Eli Manning.
He seems to have all of the "tools" and the hype that they look for in a top-pick QB. He could end up being the type that's not as good as people say he is now, and then one day ends up being better than people say he is. Or he could end up being David Carr.

Ohio State versus M*ch*g*n trumps everything. It trumps your record. It trumps whether it's dangerous or you don't have a chance or any of those kinds of things. It trumps all things because it's the Ohio State-M*ch*g*n game. And I would like to think our guys understand that, but there's only one demonstration of understanding that and that's at 12:00 noon on Saturday.

Georgia Fans Complete Nuptuals - Pecan Waffle for Wedding Cake?

Couple marries at Waffle House
By Alex P. Joyner

DACULA - As the famous twang of Hank Williams Jr. blasted from an SUV
stereo Friday afternoon, about 30 folks socialized, sipped soda and puffed on cigarettes.
No, this wasn't a Fourth of July backyard barbecue. It was the run-up to a wedding.
In a Waffle House parking lot.
The lucky couple, George "Bubba" Mathis and Pamela Christian - both 23 and
employees at the Dacula diner located at the Ga. Highway 316/U.S. Highway 29
interchange - wouldn't have it any other way.
