No, you aren't.

What the [censored] does pro td's have to do with this discussion?
In that case, Eddie is WAAAAY better than Archie, right?

I'd should e-bitch slap mross for including Knowshon Moreno in the poll. You serious?

I voted for Beanie. If he ever played a season at even 90% health, I don't think this would be that hard of a question. If he ever played with a non-first year QB, I don't think this would be that hard of a question. And if he ever played behind a truly good OL(last year's was solid and without trying to bash them, this year's is bad), this wouldn't be that hard of a question.

Anyway, Ricky Williams, Tomlinson, McFadden, Peterson, Larry Johnson, and Dayne are some of my other favorites.

Troy Davis put up 2k behind an offensive line where none of his blockers were drafted into the NFL, with no other offensive talent and where literally every team knew he was the offense.

Troy finished second in the Heisman in 1996 on a 2-9 team gaining over 2,000 yards where he was the only talent and offensive threat on offense it in what's comparable to an Indiana team from this season. He had no line, got 8-9 man boxes and still put up ridiculous numbers. No one on this list has been in this bad of a situation and done more with less.

Quote:
Heisman Trophy Finalist Troy Davis was tremendous, rushing for 378 yards on 41 carries for four touchdowns as Iowa State won its second straight game for the first time in 69 contests, a 45-31 decision over Missouri. Davis' rushing total was the third-highest in NCAA Division I history at the time and left him just 83 yards short of 1,000 yards after four games. TCU's LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 406 yards against UTEP in 1999 to bump Davis' total to fourth all-time.

The Cyclones shut out Missouri, 21-0, in the fourth quarter as Davis had 16 carries for 175 yards and a pair of TDs.
Iowa State's 1996 schedule has been ranked among the nation's five toughest.

Playing a non-conference schedule that included Top 25 teams such as Wyoming and Iowa, then a conference schedule with national powers such as Texas A&M, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas State does not allow statistics to be padded. Remember it's 96

Davis is carrying the ball with the game on the line and not against second- and third-string defenses. ISU lost to Texas A&M, Kansas and Wyoming by 3 points and to Colorado by 7 points.

Dude with an Indiana 2008 squad against a 5-6 a future Katzenmoyer highlight victim Corby Jones led Missouri squad.

Troy's got 25 carries going into the fourth against a defense that knows he's getting the ball and manages 16 and 175. He helped Iowa State run off the last 9:14 of the game against 8-11 fronts behind a terrible offense. That sir with the lack of talent is damn near a GOAT worthy performance

If Drushaun Humphry hadn't been cut down before his prime then surely he would be the consensus pick...

If I hadn't picked an Ohio State RB, I have a feeling we wouldn't be having this discussion.

The Tyler Rose? I'm not actually arguing who was better between Eddie and Archie, but to base anything in this discussion on anything to do with pro carreers is bull[censored]. Yeah, throw Terrell Davis, Corey Dillon, and a bunch of other guys that did well in the NFL on the list and tell me how they're better college backs than Archie, who didn't have much of an NFL carreer.

You are right to a certain degree about it not being an ohio state back. Simply because I don't think Beanie is close to some of those guys on that list. If you were a nebraska fan,and was arguing LP is the best running back ever I would still bring up other possibilities though.I just think you would have a better case building Phillips then Wells(strictly based on NCAA performance).

There is a correlation that is available considering the NFL. You can totally block it out,and that's fine. I know this is college football we are talking about, but there is a reason guys like Jackson,Walker dominated everything (at least at one time or another),that's because they were a different breed of athlete (jackson especially). There are no excuses for them. People just understand that they are great. With Beanie there are always x factors..Well if he hadn't done this or did this but didn't do that, then he would be this..

Think of it like this..As dominating as Barry Sanders was in college, his NFL career behind a crappy Oline is only reassuring why the thread is stating "after Barry Sanders"...If he would have sucked in the NFL,then that might not be the case or at least not as clearly cut. Would you argue on Beanie's side(against Barry),if Sanders would have been another Troy Davis in college? Huge stats, and no nfl career to be constantly reminded of his greatness.

You stating you wouldn't argue between Beanie and Eddie is no different, then saying "I wouldn't argue between Phillips and Green, because they are both better then any other college back, since Sanders" That doesn't sound somewhat asinine to you?

I didn't say I "wouldn't". I said I "wasn't". You see what I'm saying? (seriously, not tryin' to be a dick).

I've already stated that I can't just "take off the scarlet colored glasses". I honestly don't know how people can set it aside like that. I'm not claiming to be a bigger fan, or anything like that, but I can't set aside my passion for tOSU. Not a chance in hell.

I also give you [censored] from time to time, because you seem, at least to me, to make sure that everyone on an Ohio State board is aware of every other schools great teams, players, coaches, etc..and while that is not a bad thing at all...(it can lead to great discussions and get people to think), I sometimes think you go to far trying to convince Ohio State fans of others greatness. I, personally, just don't give a [censored] about other teams. Does that mean I can't look at another back and recognize talent? Of course not. It does mean that when having a discussion on "g.o.a.t.'s", that I will employ every variable I can find to show that just because a player went to tOSU, doesn't mean that I am wearing my scarlet colored glasses when I think of that player as the greatest.

Na I didn't think you were being a dick at all. It is a discussion, and I enjoy it. I do bring up other teams and players at times, because they exist, and some of them are amazing. I enjoy watching amazing athletes, and some people act like they don't exist outside of OSU. (generally speaking, not pinpointing anyone) I read a lot of stuff on here at times that do nothing but discredit those same players and teams.

Big 12 for example. You can read post after post of how bad the big 12 defenses are. Simply, because in mass media you read how great the qb's are. When there is a low scoring sec game,it's because they have no offense. Giving no credit to the defense. Basically, trying to revolve any conversation around any team negatively. When in reality anything can happen on any day,and I firmly believe that some of these same teams would tear a new hole in most big 10 teams asses, and even when it has happened it's a list of excuses instead of giving credit to a better team on that given day.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a die hard fan. Believe it or not I am a buckeye fan lol...I just love seeing amazing talent on the field. The same way you can't imagine how people aren't influenced by their particular team. I feel the same way about missing out on great football with other teams. I don't feel that makes me less of a buckeye fan. I just like college football.

I think I have to re-think my original selection of Beanie, and change it to Tim Tebow. Gary Danielson has me convinced that he's the best player in the history of people. For [censored]'s sake....He's Bronco Nagurski!!!! How you gonna act?!

What about Earl Campbell? He is so banged up he can barely walk these days. Or was he before? Still quite a running back was he.

Adrian Peterson is tops on the list by a mile. After him it gets interesting-I can honestly say I never saw a TCU game w/ Tomlinson, so I don't know if I can count him. Not counting LaDanian, my list after Peterson would include-in order-Darren McFadden,Beanie Wells,Lawrence Phillips,Eddie George, and Ahman Green-very underrated in college and as a pro.
