I've already said I'm not comfortable talking bad about Eddie...but watch the youtube video of Eddie V ND. He doesn't get hit until the second level EVERYTIME.

I just think that if Beanie had played behind one of our better O lines...it wouldn't be an argument.

Just to be clear, Eddie was awesome...I just think Beanie is better. Just my $.02.

Yes, you've said this many times. No need to say it again. If you aren't comfortable, and are biased...then quit repeating yourself.

Beanie played against worse defenses in my opinion. Eddie had 417 yards recieving in 1995 as well. Don't forget that. 2344 total yards in 1995. Beanie had 1630 total yards in his best season. Not NEARLY as big of a threat out of the backfield. Not even close there. Eddie was more durable, and could handle more of a workload. Eddie proved it wasn't just a good O-line, look what he did in the NFL. He didn't have the longevity in the NFL, but the years he played, he was one of the best. To say it was all because of Pace, to me is silly. Beanie is great, but he was never as consistant as Eddie. Eddie had a pretty sick stiff arm too. It was just as good as Beanie's. Don't you remember? Sick stiffarm. And Eddie could run out of tackles better than Beanie. Beanie may have run thru guys more often, but Eddie had better vision and balance. He could just run out of a tackle so easily. He also had a better ability to stop on a dime and make a guy miss. Sorry man...Beanie is a very strong back, about as strong as it gets, but he wasn't better than Eddie.

Are you trying to argue that Eddie had tougher sledding than Beanie? Or are you simply talking about opposition while ignoring the enormous difference in those stopping those defenses?

Since we are talking "college RB's" I would go with Ricky Williams. He was both thunder and lightning all by himself and ran for a ridiculous amount of yards at Texas playing against major school competition. Size, breakaway speed, power, agility, vision, durability, blocking, football IQ etc..

He had every ingredientthat makes a great RB in abundanceIMO, although with the players in this poll it is like splitting hairs to pick out who was better than who in college.

All i'm saying is that put 2007 Beanie Wells on the 1995 Ohio State team, and he does not get 2,300 total yards. If you disagree, then fine. But i'm 100% certain he doesn't. We will never know. Let's hope Beanie proves me wrong and has a better NFL career than Eddie did. Eddie was a beast in the NFL though. I do understand we are just talking college here, but damn. IT IS EDDIE GEORGE!!!

Eddie's stiffarm was no where near Beanie's. Imo. I never saw Eddie push someone from the five into the end zone.

Eddie never had a chance to...he was already past them. But I can remember several times would just make a defender sit with his stiffarm.

Honestly, for me to consider Beanie to be one of the best. Someone like Ahman Green should be on that list as well.

Bush is not in the discussion for me because, if he didn't go pro while he played at USC, he sure has gone to a lot of trouble to cover up nothing since. Philips and McFadden received less kudos here than they deserved. Eddie George was a stunning back and one of my all-time Buckeye favorites. He really deserved his Heisman--but Beanie Wells gets my vote.

George, Philips, McFadden, ran behind lines that opened holes you could drive a truck through. Beanie has spent much of his last year and a half making something out of nothing after taking his first hit well behind the line of scrimmage. With him healthy all year, I think we may well have been playing for a national championship this year.

Me neither, but they say it was Eddie George.

If somebody were to HYPOTHETICALLY say:
Quote:
Buckyle can be an idiot at times.
Not that anybody has EVER said that...EVER!! But if they were to (WHICH THEY HAVE NOT)...then I might respond like this...

When is Buckyle ever an idiot (other than when he is in the drunk thread)? Buckyle has NEVER EVER EVER been an idiot when talking about Ohio State football. Buckyle is a great Buckeye fan, and a great American! If I could pick one person i've never met to watch a Buckeye game with, it'd probably be Buckyle.

Keep on preaching the Gospil, Buckyle! Can I get an Amen?!

Oh and on a completely UNRELATED note, i'd like to welcome Quagmire to the BP community!
