Best College RB You've Seen Since Barry Sanders?
Got into a discussion the other night with a Penn State fan about who was the best college RB since Barry Sanders. A little too young for some of these people and might be leaving someone off.

Eddie George was unstoppable.

Just going to throw Reggie Bush out there.
I haven't been watching long enough to make an intelligent argument for or against anyone. |

I'm too young to really remember Barry Sanders, but I'd probably go with Adrian Petersen or LT. I had the pleasure of watching LT here in Fort Worth. Ran for over 5,000 yards in his career. During his senior season he set an NCAA D-1A record for yards in a game with 406 and then ran for over 300 a couple weeks later.

Eddie also benefited from running behind one of the greatest OLineman ever to play CFB in Orlando Pace.

He came along six years or so before Barry Sanders; I think Herschel Walker just might be the best running back of all time.

Is there anyone else other than the listed you'd consider?

What year was Bo Jackson?

I'm with you. Neither him nor I could come up with a back that has been more impressive in his college career than Beanie. Dayne and Williams may have a ton of yards, but Beanie seems to be a far more devastating force than either of them. Lawrence Phillips and Adrian Peterson were both very, very impressive.
If I was going to choose a number 2, it would be Troy Davis. That guy was unreal. |

I can't hide my bias, but I watched every snap of every one of Eddie's games...and Beanie is better, imo. The one thing most of the RB's on that list have in common with each other is they all played behind decent to damn good OL's. With the injuries and shuffling that went on this year, Beanie averaging over 5 ypc is ridiculous. He also compares favorably to each of the above lists individual strengths. Oh, so and so is fast? So is Beanie. Oh, so and so could stiff arm?
Please. Oh, so and so could truck [censored]s? See the end of every other run. He is the complete package moreso than any back I've seen...AP was up there as well. And, IMO, Mo C should be on the list. |
