LSU stayed at #9 despite a loss, which is the first time I can remember a team losing a regular season game and not dropping at least one spot in the polls.

Completely agree. But if Texas stumbles and none of them do, I don't see how you keep them from the NC Game.

That said, Cincy still has to play the two toughest games on their schedule. TCU has perhaps their strongest opponent as well. But this is the best shot for a serious pretender since the BCS was formed.

If Texas opens the door the question may not be how do the powers that be keep it from happening, but rather, how do the playoff proponents ensure that it does.

I'm sure that decision was under official review, and even though there is blatantly obvious evidence to overturn it, it is upheld.

Does no one voting in these pay attention to west coast football? I know Oregon just lost but how in your right mind can you have them behind a USC team with the same record that they just wiped the floor with last week?

In some cases, I can see where ranking a team that beat another team behind that team makes sense, but I agree, Oregon smoked USC, and Stanford isn't a bad team, especially at home.

Do the computers count the wins vs the ranking of the opponent at the time, or does it recalculate every week with the latest rankings?

They recalculate everything each week. The computer polls used for the BCS are not allowed to use margin of victory.
