Only articles stating # of early enrollees can not exceed graduates in December.

If December is the absolute cutoff date, then Lee not graduating leaves us short a spot for an early enrolee.

If the date is just prior to spring semester, then Lee graduating a month late is not to blame.
IIRC there are two rules that apply. You cannot have more than 25 "initial counters" in any one academic year. So if you bring in 25 in the fall you can't bring in anyone else new until the next fall. Early enrollees are a way of moving an initial counter back to the previous academic year (if there is room) to create space in the following year.

The second rule is that you can't have more than 85 on scholarship at any one time. The statement about not having more come in early than graduate in December sounds like the need to stay under that figure.

Of course he never signed with LSU. Early enrollees do not sign a letter of intent. They give a verbal then they enroll after the fall semester and they are then on scholarship.

Gray shirting needs to be discussed well in advance, not right before classes begin.

Miles obviously would have known that Lee wasn't going to graduate 10 days earlier. I wouldn't define timely notice as letting the kid travel to Baton Rouge from Fla., and then making him hang out for a week before giving him the bad news. I guess Les was too busy fine-tuning that brilliant master game plan for the NC to worry about some kid road tripping several hundred miles for nothing.

Nick Saban told him that he wished he could have informed him back in August.

I think we should cut Saban some slack here. He didn't know he would end up getting 25 players he considered better than this guy. And even though he did, he's upholding his commitment by allowing him to sign in 2013... assuming they don't again find 25 players better than him... in which case I can almost assure you they'd let him sign in 2014... unless they find 25 players better than him... (rinse, wash, repeat)

I have a really good feeling he would be lining up at running back for the University of Alabama at the ripe old age of 27. Good for him!
