GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) -- The Atlantic Coast Conference's football championship game is moving back to prime-time television.

The ACC said Wednesday this year's game will kickoff at 8 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. ESPN will broadcast the game.

It's the first prime-time kickoff for the ACC title game since the inaugural contest in 2005. The game has started at 1 p.m. in each of the past three seasons. ABC televised the first four title games.

I think that Virginia Tech has a great chance to do something special this season. I'm a student over at VT so naturally i'm a bit biased, but I think that with how well they played at the end of last season, and how many guys they'll be returning, they have a great chance to make another BCS bowl, and quite possibly sneak into a NC game if they can beat Alabama in the beginning and hold on. Bud Foster is always going to have that defense among the best in the country, and their running game is going to be nasty. If Tyrod Taylor can actually throw the ball well consistently, they are going to be scary.


I'll be down there in Atlanta on Sept. 5 for the Bama game, and if VT pulls off the win there is going to be a maroon and orange riot in A-town

Well, I guess next year we'll get to see first hand how god the ACC is.

scUM south is claiming to be rebuilding back to their former strength and we should be very good in '10.

Friedgen won't say how much he weighed before he began the diet in October, but this much is certain: He was well over 300 pounds and not in a very healthy place.

"A couple of years back I looked into doing lap band surgery, and then a week away I decided not to do it because it would limit what I could eat and how I could eat it," Friedgen said Monday. "But the doctors had told me when things start going bad, being overweight, they're going to go bad fast."

Friedgen knew it was time to get rid of the two extra chins and the massive belly that was making it difficult for him to walk without losing his breath. So he began a diet that provided him with five packaged meals a day and healthy snacks.

Hokies tailback Evans to miss season with ACL tear

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech will have a new starting tailback in a season of great expectations after Darren Evans tore a ligament in his left knee during practice.

The school says the redshirt sophomore will miss the season after Tuesday's injury to the ACL.

Team trainer Mike Goforth said Evans had an MRI at Montgomery Regional Hospital and will be re-evaluated later this week to see when reconstructive surgery will be performed. He said he hopes to do it soon to allow Evans to get started on rehabilitation before classes begin.

Evans started just eight games for the Hokies last season but led the team with 1,265 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. He set a school record with 253 rushing yards in a Thursday night victory against Maryland, and was the MVP of the Orange Bowl after gaining 153 yards.

Evans became the first Virginia Tech player to score a touchdown in each of his first six games, and was a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection for 2008.

His loss means that redshirt freshman Ryan Williams, Josh Oglesby or highly regarded freshman David Wilson will be the starter. Only Oglesby has carried the ball in a game.
