Which makes me wonder if win/loss record in The Game somehow correlates with the proportion of in-state/rival state kids on the starting rosters. Maybe part of "getting" the rivalry has to do with recruiting kids that were born with that passion in their bellies. If you go all over the place recruiting stars, you'll do well overall, but those OOS kids have a higher chance of not being able to overcome the other side's intensity and fire when it comes to the last game of each season.

I know its not real scientific but I have a 2-10-1 record from a certain outsider coach that I'll put up as proof of why I believe in this for players and coaches.

Woody vs scUM: 16-11-1
Earl vs scUM: 5-4
Coop: 2-10-1
JT: 7-1 and counting

You either grow up indoctrinated in our culture and understand what The Game really means or you do not. I think players can be brought along to a certain degree but coaches set the tone.

As soon as RR started trying to downplay The Game as just another rivalry game I knew we had our man.

* - PSU just landed #26, Michael Wallace, a 1 or 2 star CB from Jelani Jenkins' high school, who held offers from Stanford & Army. PSU fans are hoping it will help sway Jenkins their way, who will decide soon.

How do you not even mention the loss to Appy state when talking about prestige rankings?
