ESPN's take....
MichiganAfter a disappointing first year for coach Rich Rodriguez -- during which the Wolverines only won three games -- fans now turn their attention to what they hope is a brighter future. As Rich Rod tries to mold this team in his image, he has seen ups and downs on the recruiting trail with his first full class. The Wolverines have suffered some de-commitments along the way, but currently still sit in the top 15 of the class rankings. The big focus is the on the quarterback position; Michigan is trying diligently to find the right player to fit its system. The Wolverines have suffered some de-commitments at this position, but they do have one committed quarterback prospect who may be an ideal fit in Tate Forcier (San Diego, Calif. / Scripps Ranch). Michigan also has some prospects with good upside. DE Anthony LaLota (Princeton, N.J. / The Hun School) is still fairly new to the game of football, but has the tools to be a good college defensive end, and while Taylor Lewan (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Chaparral) just wrapped up his first year as an offensive tackle in the Under Armour All-American, he has a great frame and wonderful potential. Top Prospect: The knock on Craig Roh (Scottsdale, Ariz / Chaparral) is that he is too lean, but the kid is a wiry and muscular defender who plays the defensive end position well. He has the frame to pack on more weight and showed on film and at the Under Armour All-American Game that size is not a serious concern. He is an excellent prospect who plays smart and uses good technique to his advantage. He has an excellent motor and is good with his hands. Roh is a disruptive pass-rusher who has a good spin move and will work a counter off of it. In a conference in which teams still like to run the ball, Roh will need to get bigger, but the kid is a fine football player; he should be able to at least contribute as a pass-rusher early on. Don't be surprised if ? Michigan only trails arch rival Ohio State in the final conference rankings. Illinois and Penn State especially are not far behind, but the Wolverines should add enough to finish with the conference's second-rated class. How does TSUN find a hot-shot DC?

Curious what our um visitors think about the potential Robinson hire. Seems like a pretty good move to me. He won 2 SB rings as Denver's DC in the 90's amd has a decent resume in that position. Question is will he gel with the assistants DickRod already has in place, and can DickRod keep from meddling in his buisness and give him the control he needs over the defense.

case in point for this Ted Roof, failure at Duke and then he goes up to Minnesota and does a great job considering the talent. Auburn comes in and swoops him this off season.

Agreed. There's a lot of [censored]ing and moaning on the scUM boards about his record at Syracuse. Most don't bother to look at his resume as a DC. I think it could be a good hire if DickRod's ego can allow him to keep out of Robinson's bidness...doubt that happens though.

Scout $
Travis Bond headed to UNC. Yet another Butch Davis victory over RR this year. Sure some are local, but the volume is striking. Quote:

Michigan fans can't crow about having a "national" recruiting base, and claim that losing kids to in-state schools isn't a problem.
Well.....they can and will, but they are hypocrites for doing so. |

Wait, why not? "National recruiting base" doesn't mean you have your pick of any recruit in any state. We certainly don't have any trouble getting talent out of, say, Florida - and yet it's not some kind of blast on our recruiting when we get beat by a Florida school for someone.
