No one pretended that TP had a good day vs SC, but that doesn't change Barkley's rough outing through most of the game. If he was not Petey's best chance to win, he would've been pulled. Instead he stuck by him and Barkley came through, albeit with a lot of help from McKnight.

This game has me worried for a lot of reasons. I've mentioned them in other threads but the short of it is:

- We're playing against a head coach/offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator who know USC's strategies in and out. They know the players better than anybody outside of Heritage Hall. I know it works the other way as well but we don't know Washington's personnel as well as they know ours.

- Locker is really good. And he will run more than Pryor will, or at least try to. I view him as more of a threat, personally.

- Washington has nothing to lose.

- It's our conference road opener, which is our most likely game to drop in the Carroll era.

- We're coming off a tough, emotional win over you guys. Last year it wasn't so tough but we still had a come down... I just hope the USC players aren't sleeping on the bus on the way to the game this time.

- Barkley is probably not going to play. Personally I am confident that Barkley is our best QB, and considering we're playing a team where the secondary is probably the biggest issue, I'd prefer to have him playing. To be clear, I'd much rather Barkley rest his shoulder if he needs it rather than risking a more serious injury -- but the last thing I want is for the "quarterback debate" to start raging again. It's a huge distraction for a team. It was one thing before the season started, in the middle of it is a whole different problem. And if Corp is able to exploit the Washington secondary (and I think he will)... well....

- Possibility of rain... could make for a messy football game, and I'm still not entirely sold on McKnight's ability to hold onto the ball.


Either way if I was a betting man I would take Washington and the points. I don't think USC will lose (I am a fan after all ) but I do think it will be closer than 20 points or whatever it was at last time I saw it. I'm hoping for a comfortable 14-17 point win if we can't get the blowout victory.

2 years ago you guys went up there and had a tough game. They have speed at the skill positions on offense but their lines and defense are sub-par. They could make it a tough game by playing with a lot of heart but ultimately I think it'll be a blow out in favor of the Trojans.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's going to be a blow out, they played their tails off against LSU. USC wins, but very much closer than people think.

I keep thinking that this game is one of the typical "it will be closer than it appears" games... But I just can't think of how Wash. is gonna stop USC's O-line. I think it turns into sweep left, sweep right, hand off, sweep, play action, rinse and repeat, and wash won't be able to stop it.
