Thanks, coxew. Not doubting you at all. I just love hearing things like that, especially when coming on the heels of the Dennis Kennedy situation.

Everyone has been focusing on the grades isssue as to why Javon has not been offered but there may also be a size issue as well. I had the opportunity to see Javon at Ohio State's senior camp where he posted an amazing standing broad jump of 10' 5" to easily beat Manningham's 9'11". Javon is solidly built but he is no where near the 5'10" and 210 pounds I have seen listed for him. He is more like 5'8" and 175-180 pounds. This may not be up to Big Ten standards and is one of the reasons listed for little interest being shown for Sutton, the running back from Akron Hoban, whose stats are on a par with Javon's.
This is not to say Javon is not a great player or will not receive an offer but it may also be another factor as to why he has not been offered. |

I saw that listing myself but I stood right next to him and he was at least two inches shorter than me and I am 5'10". It is difficult to quess weight and Javon was solid so the weight may be correct but that height listing is a stretch. If you saw him in person, you would know what I am saying. He is a small running back.

He may be on the small side, but I don't think I've ever seen so much outcry for a player to be offered like I have for Ringer. I'm talking about guys on this board who know their [censored] and have seen Ringer in person or on tape and have been blown away. It would be another thing if the opinion was coming from
. |

There was outcry like this last year for a while for Delbert Ferguson, who is now at UC. Ferguson though, didn't have near the highlight reel that Ringer has.
As far as his size goes, I don't think it's that big of an issue. Those who have seen VG's videos of him can attest that while he may weigh 180, he runs with the power of a 230 lb. back. Plus, he still has time to add a little size. Last edited by jlb1705; 07-21-2004 at 09:58 PM. |

I'm telling you guys, it's his grades...this is coming straight from the mouth of one of his ex-coaches.
He's had a past of being sloppy in the classroom. Barely passing classes is the big one. He only recently started to get his butt in gear in the classroom. He looks like he'll qualify but he'll do it barely and may not finish in the top 50% of his class. I believe his history of laziness in the classroom is the main culprit in his problems with getting a schollie from OSU.. That being said, I also believe part of it is the fact that OSU wants Wells bad enough that they'll wait to offer another RB and see what Wells does first. All of you, I'm sure, remember what happened a few years back with Clarett and Wynn. Wynn SHOULD have been offered but never was because the staff wanted Clarett and promised him he'd be the only RB in the class. This is probably what's happening with Ringer and Wells also. Had Ringer been good in the classroom all through HS it may be a different story though. It's not like OSU needs to take more than 1 RB in this class anyways. |

I've seen Ringer play in person... all I can say is the kid is a freak... he has power, speed, vision... and is always a threat. The other teams plans around him, and he still gets the job done (and then some)...
He carried his team his soph. year... he was great last year... and will more than likely be great this year... the kid needs to get his grades in order and become a buckeye (if he is offered)... |

You may be right about needing more than one RB. I'm just saying, it's looking awfully similiar to the Clarett situation....
Guilford may come back and I am hearing that O'Neal could very well end up an RB depending on how he does this year playing that spot for Glenville. I think that's a great idea. |
