Saban talking to Dolphins; That I like
LSU confirmed that they're talking.
Now all we need is Pete Lewis Carroll to go coach the Saints and the recruiting wars get a touch easier for some of the national recruits, Urban, Lloyd, Mack and Phil not withstanding. I couldn't find a thread discussing this topic yet, so, my apoligies if this is indeed a dup(licate). Last edited by osugrad21; 12-16-2004 at 10:33 AM. Reason: Misleading title |

I just want him to stay away from the Browns, at least until they hire a GM.

Welcome Carlos. Only scary thing is this might bring a couple recruits over to Texas. Good thing we're playign them the next two years, as opposed to when we're playing USC (which would let possible LSU-to-UT recruits develop into bigger stars).
Anyway I'm rambling. We're definitely #3 in terms of recruiting now, as long as Meyer doesn't turn that Florida school into the juggernaut that its primed to be with Leak and a good squad around him. |

Leak was a sophomore this year. He never red-shirted, so he has to wait 1 more year before getting drafted.
And what Leinart says now might be different than what he says next month. |

I like LSU dropping back to the middle of the SEC pack. However, I think we got the short end of the dolphin trade. Dave Wannstedt at Pitt will pull away more recruits than we pick up from LSU.

True, but Pitt hopefully won't be beating us in title games, like LSU is very capable of doing.

Nick Saban - Doug Christie?
Just ran across this quote. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it surprised me. Who lets his wife make a decision like this for him and then calls her from the bathroom right before a press conference? WTF? :
6. LSU almost didn't happen: "I don't think I've ever said this before," he said, "but when LSU wanted to talk to me when I was at Michigan State, I didn't think I could make the trip. I didn't want it getting out that I was talking to them in case it didn't work out. So I said to my wife, 'You make the trip, and see what you think.' And it ended up working out. We made an agreement without me even being there. When it came time to introduce me down there, I walked around, looking the place over, and suddenly I didn't feel very good about things. There was a press conference waiting to start, and I said, 'I've got to use the men's room.' I went into the men's room and called my wife and told her, 'I don't know if I want to do this.' But I went ahead with it. For three months, I was very apprehensive and didn't know if I'd made the right call. But it worked out great." |

You can't even compare that to Doug Christie. Saban just didn't want to lose his recruiting class at MSU if they found out that he was looking for a job. I'm sure the extra $$ on the paycheck made his wife like LSU a lot more.

Coach Saban turns down dinner with G. Bush
I really like a lot of the things Saban is doing as a coach; I think he might go down as one of the best.
