Saban talking to Dolphins; That I like
LSU confirmed that they're talking.

Now all we need is Pete Lewis Carroll to go coach the Saints and the recruiting wars get a touch easier for some of the national recruits, Urban, Lloyd, Mack and Phil not withstanding.

It's always been my impression that Saban is a little big seedy just like Coop was, he just hasn't ever really been on a national stage under scrutiny...but who knows

Welcome Carlos. Only scary thing is this might bring a couple recruits over to Texas. Good thing we're playign them the next two years, as opposed to when we're playing USC (which would let possible LSU-to-UT recruits develop into bigger stars).

Anyway I'm rambling.

We're definitely #3 in terms of recruiting now, as long as Meyer doesn't turn that Florida school into the juggernaut that its primed to be with Leak and a good squad around him.

Leak was a sophomore this year. He never red-shirted, so he has to wait 1 more year before getting drafted.

I like LSU dropping back to the middle of the SEC pack. However, I think we got the short end of the dolphin trade. Dave Wannstedt at Pitt will pull away more recruits than we pick up from LSU.

Just ran across this quote. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it surprised me. Who lets his wife make a decision like this for him and then calls her from the bathroom right before a press conference? WTF? :

You can't even compare that to Doug Christie. Saban just didn't want to lose his recruiting class at MSU if they found out that he was looking for a job. I'm sure the extra $$ on the paycheck made his wife like LSU a lot more.

Coach Saban turns down dinner with G. Bush
I really like a lot of the things Saban is doing as a coach; I think he might go down as one of the best.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- When the White House called with an invitation to dine with President Bush, Dan Marino took it. But the coach of his former team said no.
Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban said Monday that his obligations at training camp took priority over a chance to meet the president.

"It was really a tough decision," Saban said. "I feel like my first responsibility is our team. That in no way disrespects the importance of the opportunity I would have loved to have had to spend dinner with the President."
The invitation was for dinner with Bush on Sunday night at Joe's Stone Crabs, a landmark Miami Beach restaurant. Marino, a former Dolphins quarterback and an NFL Hall of Famer, did attend, Bush said in a speech Monday.
Several Dolphins players said they weren't surprised that Saban put his team ahead of the president.
"We all know Nick is serious about what we're doing here and is committed to it," defensive end Jason Taylor said.
