Turning down dinner is one thing...
But you can't turn down a night of drinking with the President |

Seriously, though, how could he turn down George's "Hey, ya wanna see me make milk come outta my nose?" trick?

Report on espn tonight says Alabama will offer Saban 40 - 50 mill to coach

I would be shocked to see him leave.
He left LSU to go to the NFL, why would he take a job back in college inferior to LSU? |

How can you turn down the money. Of course it will further ruin the relationship between Universities and coaches. They didn't say for how many years, prob 10 but ......

Some people are meant to be college coaches. Also, the Dolphins are dreadful. 'Bama is one of those "sleeping giant" programs, get the right coach in there, and they could be back pretty quick.

Never thought I'd hear Alabama football referred to as a sleeping giant.

Well, you have a program with great tradition, resources and a large fanbase that has been pretty much dormant for over a decade (Good, not great, season here and there). Pretty similar to USC prior to Petey's arrival in LA. Hence, "sleeping giant". Don't kid yourself, Saban is a great college coach and has the ability to make the Tide competitive pretty quick.

If Saban returns, Urban Meyer would be wise to jump to the NFL ASAP.

To think this could be a Petey-SC situation if Saban takes the job I think may be a little misguided. While Alabama has the resources, tradition, and fanbase, they don't have Southern California to recruit. While there is some great high school talent in Alabama, it doesn't have the depth of a place like Florida, Texas, Ohio, or Southern Cal. The great programs, with the exception of Notre Dame and Michiga, are built mainly around in-state talent. I just don't know if Alabama has the talent to sustain Aurburn and the Tide as high-level football programs.
