I wouldn't isolate my hatred towards any pac 10 fans. It's just the fact that everytime I take a [censored] the toilet paper is talking to me saying how great USC and Cal is this year. How Auburn doesn't deserve a shot at the title, and how USC's schedule is just as good as OK or Auburn. How the west coast is just as good as east coast football.

Bottom line is the one big doggie that USC fans stroked all year long just got shot down by not the best team in the big 12...not the second best team in the big 12,but at best the 3rd.

I grew up hating the Pac 10 and will go on living and hating it til I die. Most of my USC buddies went and stuck their heads in a hole somewhere after tonight and was finding new ways and new gods to pray to that USC beats Oklahoma before they totally eat every damn word they have preached all year.

Interesting posts in here and obviously very easy to pile on after the fact.

I certainly don't judge Cal by one game at the end of the year and call them a fraud. please.

I thought Cal would win this, even going up against the Red Raiders who fear no pass. Throughout the year, Cal WAS one of the best teams in the nation. It doesn't matter after the fact, but they were robbed of the Rose Bowl imho.

As one poster mentioned, this was a SERIOUS case of letdown. Total and complete emotional letdown. Let's see, we barely lost to the #1 team in the nation and for our reward we get a crappy bowl game the isn't even on New Year's Day?!?!? Yep, I'm sure they were ELATED to be playing this game.

College Football, unlike most other sports, has so much emotion that plays into the game.

I think to base Cal's poor performance on one game at the end of the year and disregard their entire year is obnoxious. They were on of the most "complete" teams in the nation. I think they take Michigan down if they played them in the Rose. They are that good.

Yes I watched the game. It's easy NOW to say they "suck" (which they don't), it's the whole "what have you done for me lately" attitude that most fans have. I like to look at the bigger picture.

BTW - I picked Oklahoma to beat USC. But that DOESN'T mean I think USC sucks. And if they get beat I'm sure some of you will say ...oh yeah...see they were frauds... yada yada yada. Undefeated is still undefeated. A great accomplishment. I can't stand them, but I respect them. I hope Oklahoma thrashes them.

BTW - I don't count their "half title" from last year as being national champs. LSU won the BCS National Championship. NOT USC. That is what we are all playing for. But that is another discussion for another time ;-)

are you guys forgetting that USC totally dominated Michigan last year?

are you guys forgetting that USC completely annihilated Iowa 2 years ago?

Just because Cal got killed, doesn't necessarily imply that USC will lose (just as the Iowa-USC game didn't prove that the big ten was weak and that we were surely to get rolled by miami). USC plays lazy during the regular season but they always seem to turn it on when they want to. In all of their close games, they have totally dominated the 2nd half.

USC has plenty of talent. Oklahoma is overrated crap. Everyone thinks that Bob Stoops is some kind of defensive genius (probably because he shut down the MIGHTY chris weinke); but in 2002, his awesome defense got shredded twice by 2 average big xii teams; in 2003, both kansas st. and LSU (who wasn't known for their offense) rolled against them; and this year, they have gotten shredded several times again. Give norm chow a month to prepare and bob stoops a month to prepare, and i give a big advantage to chow. USC has way more talent than okie st and aTm, they will score at will. leinart is a decent, intelligent QB who will make good decisions with the ball.

the people that think oklahoma will win, are probably banking this on thinking that usc is "soft" and that adrian peterson will run all over them. michigan had a great running game last year, but that "soft" usc defense did a pretty good job against that big offensive line and a tough RB. Oklahoma's offensive line is not better than 2003 Michigan; USC will hold its own in the trenches, if not the advantage. Jason White is a terrible QB and USC will either stack the box or blitz. Jason White won't be able to beat the blitz consistently. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if the brittle White gets knocked out of the game before halftime (then the excuses will come out and everyone will say that OU would have won if white hadn't gotten injured, blah blah blah, to which I say, BULL[censored]).

USC has struggled at times this year, but there is no questioning their talent and recent performance in big games. Given a month to prepare, I like what Chow and Carroll can do on their respective sides of the ball much better than what overrated Stoops can muster up. Just from looking at leinart and white and hearing them talk, it's pretty obvious which QB I'd rather have. One is calm, cool, collected, and confident; the other one sucks ass. If USC struggles at first, I have no doubt that they have the intangibles to rebound; however, if Oklahoma struggles, it's goodnight. Jason White won't be able to inspire any confidence in his teammates and stoops will do nothing but yell and scream and make idiotic comments to the sideline reporter before halftime. ("actually, Pam, WE have the #1 total defense in the country")

USC is not a soft team. USC is well-coached. Oklahoma has a terrible QB and a terrible defense. The Cal-TT game does worry me a bit, but I'm going to stick with my guns and predict a USC blowout.

Michigan was close in that game, they just couldn't punch it in from the redzone.

And are you aware of where those two USC "road" games where played, in their own backyard. Yeah, that was a fair and neutral setting for a bowl game.

Cal would have beat the crap out of Michigan, Texas or any other team that's not throwing it 50 times a game. In my opinion, anyway.

Impossible. The Cal team I saw tonight is the same team that barely squeaked by Southern Miss. The Bears wouldn't hang with any major conference power (and no, the Pac-10 is not a major conference), much less "beat the crap" out of them.

Cal has been putting up 1,000 yard rushers under Tedford like nobody's business.

Put Hawaii in the Pac-10 and they'll put up all-world numbers, too. These guys have played NO ONE.
So, you have watched Cal play So Miss and TTU and now you're an expert on Cal football? I can't disagree that the the PAC-10 is USC and little else. I too believe that Pac 10 Defenses are like High School JV squads. But, if you had watched Cal play USC you would have seen CAL dominate the game but for the score board. Look, I don't think Cal would run the table in the Big 10, the SEC or what have you. I do think you're selling Cal short.

Your comment about Hawaii in the Pac 10 is ridiculous. JJ Arrington gained 2000 yards this year. He went over 100 every game. Averaged better than 167 per. To sell that short is bizarre.

2002 Igber,Joe 12 1130 4.7 94.2
2003 Echemandu, A. 13 1195 5.0 91.9
2004 Arrington,JJ 11 1845 7.0 167.7 (before 173 yards last night - which gives him 2018 for the year)

You know who didn't put up 2000 yards against the Pac 10? Reggie Bush, yet he had a seat in NYC didn't he?

please. spare me the crap about how usc has the "home-field" advantage. there were just as many michigan fans as usc fans in the rose bowl. and it's not like michigan flew there the day before the game. they had plenty of time to get acclimated to the surroundings.

also, usc killed iowa in the orange bowl. last time i checked, that's in miami. as in, it's in the complete opposite side of the country as usc.

jason white is a terrible QB. I don't give a crap what his stats are against these lousy big xii defenses. he has absolutely ZERO mobility and his arm isn't that great. if you want to call me insane, that's fine. but we'll all get a front-row seat when he crumbles on national TV again. Pete Carroll will be bringing the heat all night long. Last year, we had a great defensive line. We sacked John Navarre zero times. USC sacked him like 7 times I believe. Yes, they lost Udeze to the NFL but they can still bring it when they want to. If their front four can't get to White, Carroll is smart enough to bring the heat and utilize his blitz packages effectively.

Last year I made the mistake of predicting a Michigan win because I was convinced that they would run all over the "soft" USC defense. I won't be fooled again.

USC is a great team and deserves a ton of props. Yes their conference sucks, but that argument loses merit when in the last 3 years they have registered 3 very impressive wins over 2 big ten champions and an acc champion (that is no easy task, going up to blacksburg in week 1 and winning). oh and I forgot how last year in week 1 they went on the road to auburn and killed them.

But let's keep whining about how their unfair "homefield" advantage (what a pathetic argument...against miami 99 percent of the fans were buckeyes...does that in any way diminish what we did?). Let's keep talking about how "soft" they are when in the last 2 years they have manhandled 2 tough big ten teams with a combined record of 15-1 in the conference.

USC 42 Oklahoma 20. They probably won't lose a game until we beat them in the Rose Bowl next year.

as this season went on cal was losing more offensive players to injuries than the buckeyes were to suspensions and arrests.....
