Jax, the BIG-10 did have the best record in 2002.
And the Pac-10 is 1-2. Oregon State nailed ND.
Complete conference records this year are on a thread that I have that just slipped to page 2. If someone posts on that thread, it'll come back to page 1. I'll update it after each game over the next few days.

I think it is tough for us as B10 fans to evaluate other conferences like the Big XII and PAC 10. Every week we watch the hardest hitting, hardest running, best coached teams play each other in great venues. And the same can be said for the SEC and they are probably a better football conference from top to bottom.
Realistically, the PAC 10 and Big XII are second tier conferences with second tier coaching, mild tradition, average rivalries and average venues. However, sometimes a team like OU and USC will emerge as a powerful team. And rightfully can be declared powerful by running the table in their average conferences. However, with a playoff system I doubt these teams would be able to stand up because they don't normally have all the pieces: coaching, history, schemes, chemistry, etc. See OU last year in the B12 championship.
Now, just because a team like Cal plays in one of these second tier conferences and plays USC hard does not make them a real contender...see Kansas St last year. What an ass whooping we laid on them.
And BTW, I think we will all walk away from this year's NC game "knowing" that Auburn should have been playing that game.

I was so focused on ND getting drilled yet again I forgot it was a Pac 10 team that did it!!
Thanks for keeping the running total, I'm glad someone did.
Through last nights games here are a couple of other factoids you might find usefull when dealing with other conf posters:
1998-2004 Neutral Site (Bowl) game records B10 vs
B12: 6-4
SEC: 8-8
Sorry to hijack the thread but I don't take that "B10 is weak" [censored] very well.

I love it - USC fan has to pick on a Conference USA team to feel better about his weak sister conference! Classic!!!

No, I just wanted to distract you long enough for me to figure out what reason (if any) you used to equate Rodgers with Timmy Chang and Cal's schedule with that of a mid-major. Rodgers is an easy 1st rounder (probably the 1st or 2nd QB taken). And please, most rankings I've seen have Cal's schedule at least on par with most of the top 15.

methomps, I don't really have anything of value you to say here except that on a whim I checked the properties of the image in your signature and went to the site you're referencing it from and found these images.
I think this pretty much shows who has the breast team in college football
I mean who could ass for more

Once again, not so fast my friend. At Stassens site you can find the full 117 team BCS SOS rankings.... Cal is 34th. To be fair to you they are higher than Boise, Utah or Louisville.
