Now that all of you have done the research and I have not , I am shamed and humbly asked to be allowed to test these sets at my house for say, the next two years. So if you would be sharing enough you can ship them up to me and I will be your humble test person.

Just bought a 50" Panasonic plasma (TH50PX77U) a week ago. Micro Center had a great deal, originally 2100 down to 1200... Haven't had a chance to really break it in, but I definitely like what I see... Also, Panasonic has an anti-glare coating on certain makes that eliminate most of the hassles of a bright room.

I have a Samsung 50" DLP & love it! You should look at the DLP too they are not flat 9as in you can hang on a wall flat) but are very nice! It is very light & pretty thin. Last edited by elliemae; 12-02-2007 at 09:10 AM. |

Also Grad if you are looking to save any money on your buy...
Look up that tv on the internet and find the cheapest price...Just at a quick glance...I found it for 1548 here... Sears price matches 110%, so I would call the local Sears and make sure they are willing to match the price for sure, then get the tv at 1548 with another 10% off... Then Sears is running a deal right now that they will price match up to 60 days after purchase and that includes after christmas sales... I have seen this tv online at 1399, so I am going to assume that in the next 60 days that the tv will be even cheaper than that, so I would say that in then end this tv could be had for somewhere in the 1200 dollar range... This is a great tv, I am looking at the 77U version which is the anti-glare and am probably going to pull the trigger sometime this month... |

The alternative would be a Samsung 50" for 720. Much better choice? Last edited by jwinslow; 12-06-2007 at 11:04 AM. |

Didn't look at the 50" panny during past trips (due to it's MSRP), but man is that set remarkable. Might have to opt for that instead, might have a chance at a 990 pricetag.

BB is running a Panny promo w/ Bluray players, next week.
This is assuming the HDA deal can be stacked, but I think there's a pretty good chance of this. $1499 - 42" 1080p 77u +399 - Bluray player -499 - package savings ------- $1399 -$300 - DirecTV (HD Advantage) -$100 - Bluray purchase (HDA) ------- $ 999 OTD - 450 - ebay bluray player - 50 - ebay 5 free bluray discs ------- 499 +150 Install - 200 Install Rebate -------- 450 I might skip the last install step, simply to avoid the headache of an unneeded install and the delay tied to rebates.
