Limewire help needed....
Setup: Toshiba laptop (Windows Vista), Linksys wireless router, Dell home PC (Windows XP), McAfee Security System
Problem: Limewire is no longer able to connect when using my laptop. It shows that it's detecting a firewall. But when using the PC it's fine.
Tried solutions:
1.Direct connected the laptop to make sure there was no sort of problem w/ the router.
2. Added Limewire program to trusted sites in McAfee (or at least tried to).
3. Disabled McAfee firewall completely just to see if this was the problem.
4. Disabled Windows firewall completely to see if this was the problem.
5. Have gone to Limewire help page and tried the solutions there.
Background: Bought the laptop in February, downloaded songs fine the last time I tried (which was about 2-3 months ago). Now for some reason, it will not allow me to connect. The program starts up, but will not connect to search for songs. And like I said before, it still works fine when downloading on the PC, which leads me to believe nothing is wrong w/ the modem/router setup, and that it has to be something specifically w/ the laptop.
Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks in advance.

Might want to try running some searches in the Torrent Megathread... someone may have had the same issues.

You mentioned something "specifically wrong with the laptop"
What about your wireless device? Please tell me its not an integrated solution.

I'm sorry, I'm not that much of a tech guy. I'm not familiar w/ what is or is not an integrated solution. It's set up through a Linksys wireless router, not sure if that answers your question or not. But like I mentioned, I did try direct connecting to the modem to see if that would solve the problem. Also, it's the same setup I've had since I bought the laptop, and it worked a few months ago.
This is me dealing with computers.......
