What drives me bonkers is that every time I go in there they show me everything they did to fix the problem, and we're all good. Until I get home and find out they either made it all up or just didn't do what they said they'd already done.

Rep names and rep ID's are your friend. Ask for it when you start, use it in the middle and then confirm you have the right name and ID at the end. Write it down and hold on to it in case it doesn't get fixed. You could even call in to double check the notes on your account after they've told you what they've done.

If you have had more than one occasion, immediately ask for a supervisor. The rep will try to assist out of protocol, oblige and explain the cliff notes version and get a supervisor.

If you are lucky enough to be out of contract or near it, change carriers. Capitalism is a beautiful thing.

You're right, Verizon sucks. The only thing worse would be any other cellular telephone service provider.

So, I not only didn't get the $25 credit, but they also charged me again for all my applications. Two customer service reps, two disconnections, and what seemed like two hours later, they still hadn't helped a bit. The folks in the store claimed I had to call customer service. Customer service claimed I had to go to the store.

Plus they charged me over $400 for the "free replacement phone."

Then the guy at the store where I went in and made a fuss claimed to have fixed all of this... but it came out of my account anyway.

Now the douchelozzle at the store says I should just let it ride the next four months because it's going to take a month to get my money refunded anyway.

Any recommendations?

Mine would be to avoid Verizon like it's Dell.

Sprint did something very similar with me and the wife. we went without cell phones for a while because of it too.

At this point, I'd scrap the whole deal and go pre-paid if I could keep my number that way. Now I remember why I put off getting a cell phone for such a long time.

My new mobile phone rocks, the service isn't that great and the internet doesn't seem to work on it, but it's [censored]ing cheap and never rings at night. I highly recommend it.

With the new ads for the Motorola Droid, which is being pushed heavily by Verizon, I have to question if they are actually getting an Apple phone in the future. The entire ad is taking shots at the iPhone.

Agreed. My opinion is that nobody knows when/if the iPhone will have another carrier here in the states. There are also rumors of an Apple tablet, maybe that's what comes exclusively to VZW. Wait and see I guess.

This sort of advertisement wouldn't be all that unheard of though, the Alltel ads still go after VZW and they are the same company now too.

The "there's a map for that" ads are a shot at the iPhone, also. Too bad they don't realize that's a stupid campaign.

iPhone guy: I have an app that tracks the subway!
VZW guy: I have a map
iPhone guy: I have an app that connects to my bank and helps me stay on budget!
VZW guy: I have a map
iPhone guy: I have an app that lets me watch all the March Madness games!
VZW guy: I have a [censored]ing map.

It's a pretty effective one, and reflects the choice... choosing the best phone/apps or the network, not even close to getting both.
