1.6 "Newbies" and Visiting Fans
Introduction

Welcome to BuckeyePlanet! Since its inception in May of 2003, BP has welcomed over 6,000 newbies. We've all been there, and we want to make your introduction to the BP community as rewarding as possible. Some of the following information appears elsewhere in the FAQ, but has been included in a condensed form here to help you get started quickly.

Explore the Premises

The Forums page provides an excellent overview of the site contents, and is a great place to start. Before posting, we recommend reading through the forums that interest you to see what topics are being discussed and familiarize yourself with the site.

Please note that the Football Recruiting forum has very specific guidelines intended to show respect for the student athletes we are recruiting and their families, as well as to ensure we remain within NCAA rules. Other other areas are more casual, though as a community we do ask that posters maintain a certain level of common-sense civility described in the Netiquette section of this FAQ and on this page.

The What this is, what it will be - Some Q's answered thread was written by the site founder (Clarity) shortly after BuckeyePlanet became a living entity. It details the main points in the creation of BuckeyePlanet and its main goals.

Create Your Profile

On the top toolbar, look for the UserCP, or User Control Panel. Here, you can customize your avatar, signature, and user title, and set other site options. To register for the Rumor Mill forum, look for the link on the left toolbar.

Introduce Yourself and Begin Posting

Please visit the Sound Off!!! thread and tell us a bit about yourself and what brings you to BuckeyePlanet. Read through a few pages to get a sense of who we are as a community, and just for the joy of reading some great Buckeye stories.

In order to achieve the best possible results when posting, you may want to ask:

• Does a thread for this subject already exist? Use the Search link on the top toolbar, and post in an existing thread if possible, as it helps to keep the site easy to navigate.
• Am I posting my new thread in the appropriate forum? If not, the thread might not be seen, or may need to be moved.

1.6.2 Visiting Fans

Visiting fans are welcome here! Whether on a per-game basis or as regular contributors, fans of other teams have helped to enrich the BuckeyePlanet community. If you are here in anticipation of a specific football game, start with the 2008 Season Capsule. Past Season Capsules are also available.
